buying an amp from Thomann in the U.S.

Those are normal prices from Thomann.

You have to consider that when shipping goods from US to Europe, the end buyer pays for approximately +20% value added tax (depending on where you order from, some have 17,19 or even 22%) and +5-7% import/duties on top of it plus of course the shipping isn't cheap. At the end of the day that head could be even more expensive for you if you ordered from thomann and shipped to the US.

Diezels are probably the only sought after amps in the US that are European made so if a head costs 3k Eur here, let's say that's $3300 + shipping cost + import tax and duties plus whatever your value added tax is, you end up at $4k.
I think the reason why thomann does not allow buying diezels from the US is repairs/warranty. You should buy from your local vendor where local rules apply, EU has a different set of laws and legislation and you might not even apply for warranty if buying from EU. I think Peter wanted to avoid servicing the whole world on his own and that's why there's the other legal entity based in the US supplying your market.

Got a response from Anderton's.....

"These are manufactured for use at 230v so you’d have to use a transformer (at your own cost/risk) to run this in the US.

It’s also worth noting that you wouldn’t have a warranty and any damage to the valves in transit wouldn’t be covered by us.

I’d advise seeing if you can source something locally!"

It's interesting because the 2555x was DCd here, but not over there. I would think you could still re wire that transformer as those euro Marshalls could be re wired back in the day. Anyway, the black tolex 2555x is 1K vs almost 2K for the silver version when it was available here.
Btw the 2203x is 1700. I found some step up/down transformers for under 100 bucks.

Good research... its starting to sound like a lot of work, I think I'm too lazy at this point to bother with it.

I hear ya. I'm interested in the black Jube, 1K for a new 2555x?? Even with a step down transformer for 80 bucks, still a steal.
But it will have to wait for a few months, too many other things going on now.
