I was a left wing anti-war type during the bush era, who was pro-labor and held moderately conservative social values, and my politics haven't changed at all. But I was on the left for most of my life, and now i'm nominally on the right, according to the current view of US geopolitics - there's a big shift going on.

The world is big and complex, and having a cursory, imprecise view of it tends to make you look bad. Especially somewhere like a forum where your words and ideas are the only representation of you people have.
