Alright...jvm is currently out. Now thinking the pt100 vs 20th shiva. Both great amps with different mids and feel. Opinions from those who may have had both? Thx

Recently been thinking about drawing my wait out, saving more coin and getting the 20th anniv shiva? Im a lead guy at heart but my band covers a large genre of rock and modern rock.

Let me kno your thoughts. This will most likely be the last amp i buy for a LONG time so want to do it right. Of course tone comes 1st... ie: Holmes, Norum, Aldrich, Sfogli, Derrico,etc... but also needs to be a versatile gigging amp with quality fx loop and preferably master 2/or solo boost for leads.... and dependable. $2000 is my absolute cap. Thx

I've had a Bogner 20th with KT88's and it sounds huge. Also had a Marhsall 410H with Voodoo standard mods. Not the same as the 205H you're considering but in the same family. The Bogner is hands down the winner on all fronts for me. The tone is inspiring and the coverage of this amp in the mix delivers all you could want. Money is an important consideration, I get it, but if you decide to wait & go with the Bogner 20th you won't regret it. Good luck on your quest!

I can only compare the following amps I have played and owned to mp 20th Shiva KT88 Reverb Head.

The Shiva is the best amp I have ever played

Other amps I have owned:

EVH 5150 III 50 and 100 watt
Boogie Mark III, Mark IV, and Mark V
Boogie Triaxis with 2:90 Power Amp
Peavy JSX
Boogie Studio Preamp
Marshall 2203 and 2204
Carvin 2 Channel Head (?)
Hughes Kettner Axis
Roland Jazz Chorus
Fender Twin Reverb
Fender Bassman

Amps I have Played

Diezel VH4
Soldano Hot Rod 50
Rivera's
Peavy 5150
Dumble Steel Singer (Incredible Cleans)
Fender Hod Rod Deluxe, Champ, etc
I am sure there are more, I have been playing for over 35 years

Helios. Marshall+Bogner= best of both worlds for you. More money but might be worth the longer wait.

Thanks!! Good list to come out on top of. Looks like i may be saving for a bit...lol

I have not owned the JVM, but the other guitar player in my old band had one. They cover a lot of ground, but to my ears, don't really sound like a Marshall if that makes sense. I would wait and go with the Bogner.

Thanks for the feedback guys.... looks like i may be saving up some funds.

There is a lot Shiva 20th love for good reason. I tried one a couple of years back and it was just great! I'd take that if you can get it!

I have two guitar amps, a JVM1H and Bogner Shiva (older). I don't know how close the little 1 watt anniversary head gets to it's big brothers, or how different my Shiva is from the 20th model, but I'd go with the Bogner if I could only have one.

I run them both through a Mesa 2x12 cab. The Shiva has a better clean and it has one of the best master volumes I have encountered. I have no problems playing the Shiva at house friendly volumes. I use lower gain settings, and find the JVM to be tighter at similar levels than the Shiva. The EQ controls are better on the Shiva in my opinion. My older Shiva has a line level loop which was a bit problematic when I bought it because I was using pedal effects, but I don't think that's a factor with the 20th Shiva. The loop on the JVM is fine though.

I had gotten the JVM1H because I started working 3rd shift, and I refer the the two amps as my 3pm or 3am rig depending on when I'm playing and if I have to be quiet.

Bogner Shiva 20th has a much better tone to me than any new Marshall.

Holiday opinions??

Thought I had my mind made up but a bloke I trust mentioned how good the JVM amp actually is.... and he wasn't knocking the 20th Shiva at all.

I've owned a stock JVM210H, 410H, and a Voodoo modded 410H. I've also owned a Shiva 20th head.

If it's only between a stock JVM (of any kind) and a Shiva, def get the Shiva. But if you could ship that JVM to Voodoo and get his mod for less than the Shiva, it's not as clear a choice. The Voodoo mods make the JVM a VERY nice sounding amp. The Voodoo mods give it cleans that rival the Shiva, and while it doesn't get exactly Bogner dirt tones, it has a LOT of amazing breakup, crunch, classic rock, metal, and modern metal tones. Plus, the JVM switching is a dream as a gigging guitarist. I gigged my Voodoo modded JVM for awhile, and it was tough to beat as a cover band rock guitarist.

I stopped gigging the Voodoo 410H because I was tired of hauling that heavy amp, but the 50w head would be much lighter and similar to the Bogner head. I'd look seriously into the Voodoo JVM option.

Thanks... I could actually pick up a modded JVM205 with the Plexi Mod and Mod on OD2 channel to bring gain back to the OD1 gain of the 410... don't think it was done by Trace at Voodoo but it is $1000 less then the Shiva. But damn the 20th Shiva really intrigues me still.

Quality wise, definitely the Bogner but it also depends on if you want more upper mid presence or the Bogner lower mid, "chewy" thing.
