Cab question about X-pattern speakers

It's a bogner cab. It'll be great. If you don't like the T75s swap them for v30s and have the same as a standard bogner cab (except at 8 ohms and assuming it is not one of the newer front loaded uberkabs)

I have a chance to get a Bogner Ubercab with the X-Pattern Vin-30's and G12T75 speakers. I've never heard one of these. In you opinion how do they sound compaired to a straight loaded Bogner with all Vin-30's? I have an XTC BTW. Thank you.

Greg, FWIW, here's what I can tell you. I have a Mesa cab with 2-V30's and 2-75's. I put them in because I use to dig my Ubercab. Anyway, after your posting, I went out and checked it out with my XTC and if you are like me, it won't do anything for you. Channel 3 on Plexi mode and Channel 2 on normal gain, it just didn't happen. Plugged in my other Mesa which was empty and that didn't work at all . Got the right one out with 4xV30's and it sounds a hell of a lot better with the XTC.

If I were gonna buy a new Bogner cab, it would def just be the V30 version.

No. I certainly don't. I find them brash, noisy, scratchy, and plain ol' shit at low volumes and with about 85% of the amps out there. Once you press 'em past 60% of their capabilities, they start to smooth over a bit, but this means ya gotsta get them running loud. As for the amps, the XTC's definitely make them sound terrific - magic really. Most other amps with V30's just, well, just don't sound as good as without V30's...

If you've ever compared them to other popular British flavoured speakers they do sound warm, provided that warm means a rolled off top end response. Most people focus on the upper mid spike and wrongly call V30s 'bright'... but the truth is that there is nothing bright about V30s at all.

mine can sound very "warm" in my opinion when i go for a more mid/lower gain sound. like if i dial the gain down a bit on my amp and even roll the guitar's volume back some to clean it up.

i have all V30's in a 1960AV right now.
and also - mine are like 8 years old and nicely broken in.
i also have another empty 4x12 and would like to take 2 of the V30's from my '60AV and mix them with 2 swamp thangs in the other cab, and 2 G12H30's, or hellatone 30's in my vintage cab. just for different cabs, but i saw a speaker comparison video once and the g12h30's sounded very similar to the swamp thangs. in that video they did anyways.
i also have another V30 and another g12t75 i might put into a 2x12 someday. (someday lol)

Big +1 to this. G12H30's, Classic Lead 80's, and K100's are all much brighter than V30's. I also find V30's very warm........of course mine are well broken in.

Yeah, this I totally agree with. They defintely lack highs, and it's the upper mid that people call bright and confuse it for treble. I'm looking at replacing one V30 in my 2x12 with a brighter British speaker, so right now I'm leaning towards a CL80 for some added treble and articulation.
