Should I Sell My Soldano 4x12

I bought a Soldano 4X12 to have a matching 1/2 stack for my SLO100.
Bought new, paid $1300.

It was too much for home playing in stock form, with all V30s. Swapping out 2 V30s for 2 Scumback BM75LDs in an X pattern made the cab easier to play at home, and more musical.

Still, the Marshall 4x12 with all GBs is my go-to. Easier to tolerate at home, sounds great with all my amps.
I'll never play either cab outside of the house.

Have an offer to sell the Soldano cab loaded with 2 V30s for $600. It'd free up some space, but I'd miss having a matching 1/2 stack. Dont think I've seen anyone playing an SLO with a Soldano cab.

So...?

If you really need the money and you already play the Marshall more anyways, yes. But if you don't need the money, you could swap out the speakers to something really different.

Or split the difference. Move the greenbacks into the Soldano cab and maybe sell the Marshall. I've read that the SLO was voiced for greenbacks anyways.

Don't need the $, but downsizing, more space are goals this year.

I like the GBs in the Marshall more than the Soldano cab. The Soldano has more detail and projection. The Marshall has more vibe, for lack of a better term.

Can't argue with that. When something is right, no sense messing with it.

Yeah it does seem low. Hard to tell though. The used market seems bad right now, and 4x12s are always tough to sell. But on the other had certain cabs should retain their value better, and a SLO cab is definitely one.

Up to you but $600 seems a little low, though its likely most of the offers will be on the low end right now.

4x12s are a tough sell in any market, and especially specialty brands. Thus the price, which I agree is lower than I like. But GC sells em fully loaded used for $800ish.
That thought is why I made this post. Like, why not just keep it? Space be damned.

The prices I've seen some 4x12s go for are crazy. Sometimes cheaper than the speakers in them are worth. I got a Splawn straight 4x12 loaded with Governors a few years ago for $300.

When I had my last Soldano cab with all V 30's it was so upper mid heavy that it was a bit too much so I swapped out 2 of the V 30's for 2 Creamback 75's in an X pwttern and that really did the trick as it tamed the mid spike and gave the cab more low end thump without being boomy.

That speaker combination of V30's mixed with the Creamback 75's sounds really good.

Definitely. I've moved away from using V30s by themselves with almost any amp. That sounds like a great combo.

I'm a big fan of the Neo Creambacks. Got a 4x12 loaded with four of them that weighs a lot less and sounds great.

The SLO itself is an incredible head but is there anything that sets the cab apart from any other 4x12 apart from the name on the front ?

Id hold on to it.......

It's only going to go up in value......

Aint they aint getting any cheaper to make...... Plus it's probably fucking awesome :dunno:

I say use it to rotate cabs.......

This way the logic is You don't put too many miles on one cab if You rotate or want to have stereo fun too.....

Hence they last longer in general in regards to speaker Quality, and usual ageing in general..... Idk but I want to Say just keep it and hold on to it for a better opportunity cost.....

Hell IMO the Best opportunity cost decision is just to hold on to it....... Good cabs don't grow out of trees or do they now :dunno:

I wouldn't keep more that one 4x12 for home use. If you like the Marshall sell the Soldano. I happen to like my v30 Soldano. It is used for gigs though.

From what I've heard you say I would sell it. You have what you need. Essentially I'm on the same road.
