Cables: Which Are 'Clearest'?

Over the last few months I’ve bought a bunch of cables from a company called Castline Cables. They use various models of Mogami cable. Really good quality, very reasonable priced outside of building yourself.

I found them on Reverb and have purchased at least 20 cables from 6” patch cables to 15’ cables. Happy with them all.

IMO, there’s a lot of marketing involved in cables to get people to overspend money. It’s just wire that carries a signal so stick to specs and price and leave the golden ear reviews to someone else. Last time I bought cables (several years ago) I went with Gepco X Band. Low capacitance, good price and they’ve proved to be durable.

I just put together my cables into a pedal python. I used 2 d addario performers for the effects send and return then a mogami for the input.

I'm completely geeking out for such a simple upgrade with the pedal python. Had I been able to do it over I would go with the mogami with neurotik connectors. Surprisingly small cable compared to some of the other cables I was looking at.

Any of the “brightness” from one cable to another can be easily had with the amps eq so I wouldn’t be influenced by that

High capacitance cable into an amp dialed in bright is a very different tone and feel than a low capacitance cable into the same amp but dialed in darker. The difference can be fairly subtle to extreme but it's always there.

We're talking about cables in an FX loop, right? In any decent loop, capacitance shouldn't be an issue.
