Good recording Steve. What were you using for i/o before? What's your recording chain now?
Thanks man.
I was using an Apogee Symphony system before as well (AD-16X, DA-16X and Symphony 32 card), but everything I had was at the end of availability from Apogee, so I felt it was necessary to upgrade, especially since I could get a brand new Symphony I/O with 8 Analog I/O and 8 Digital I/O for what I got for the AD-16X and DA-16X I sold. I upgraded my Symphony 32 card to a Symphony 64 card, which is still supported. Without doing this, I could no longer upgrade my MacOs, which I can now since what I have is Apogee supported...
I have several mics and mic pres. For the dry sound, my Cameron head is straight into a Cameron 4x12. For recording the dry sound, I used a Heil PR20 -> Great Rivers MP2NV pre -> Apogee Symphony I/O -> Symphony 64 card -> Logic Studio
I also recorded two wet cabs simultaneously with the dry cab. From a line out into my El Capistan stereo echo -> VHT 2/50/2 -> 2 Mojave 4x12s.
For left wet, signal I used Sure SM57 -> Seventh Circle Audio N72 preamp channel -> -> Apogee Symphony I/O -> Symphony 64 card -> Logic Studio
For right wet, signal I used Audix I5 -> Seventh Circle Audio J99 preamp channel -> -> Apogee Symphony I/O -> Symphony 64 card -> Logic Studio
So I recorded all 3 mics at once and then just mixed the wet signal way down so you just get a little taste of it...
I also recorded these two ribbon mics on the dry cab at the sam time, but didn't use them in the mix:
Beyer Dynamics M160 -> Seventh Circle Audio A12 preamp channel -> -> Apogee Symphony I/O -> Symphony 64 card -> Logic Studio
Beyer Dynamics M500 -> Great Rivers MP2NV pre -> -> Apogee Symphony I/O -> Symphony 64 card -> Logic Studio
