I was thinking of putting my money down on one of these in the near future. Most of the clips I have heard sound amazing and most people are raving about this amp, but I would find it hard to buy an amp just based on soundclips without playing thru one despite Mark Cameron's reputation for designing/modding/building great amps. I would probably have to sell both of my Bogners (XTC101B Pre-2004 and a original Shiva) to be able to get one of these. I do love both of my Bogners though, but the Cameron has that nasty growl that I cannot get from the XTC. What are your thoughts?

The CCV is the best amp I've ever played. I would do it.

John, thanks!!! I will try to sell both amps soon, if I can. I just hate shipping this kind of stuff especially the Shiva EL34 1X12 combo.

Selling two amps that you love in order to buy one that you've never played, all based on some clips and internet opinion??? Brilliant!!!

Well I am not selling them at this point exceptthe Shiva, which I do not use very much and was planning on selling anyways. I have had the Bogner XTC for about 10 years and want something different, but I am really want to play through a Cameron, but I do not think that would be possible since I do not live in Southern California. I have a love/hate relationship with the Bogner XTC 101B. Love it for the liquid leads but not for rhythm playing. Sounds a little too compressed. I want a more open sounding amp.

Just to throw my two cents in.....while I never cared much for the Bogner tone (the XTC is ok) the videos I've heard of the CCV sounded absolutely amazing! I wish I could afford one!

Dimebag 11, thanks!!! I wish I could afford the Cameron CCV and keep the XTC, but no can do for now.

Well, if you change your mind, you can always get another Bogner.

Where do you live, there may be a CCV owner in your area that might be willing to demo it for you.

I live in the Chicago area near Wisconsin and Milwaukee is another option.

John, where did you find a place to play a Cameron CCV in the MD area?

I actually didn't. I bought off the various youtube clips and the fact that I had owned a few of Mark's mods before that were pretty killer.

Maybe you should wait a couple of months... By that time, there will be new CCV's hitting the market and there will be more clips and maybe one closer to you... Or, make a weekend out of it and fly to LA and visit Tone Merchants...

John, I might just do that. The company that I work for has a plant in LA that I have been to a few times. Hopefully I get to go back so I can head down to Tone Merchants.

I have heard the cliops and they sound great, but that is all I have to go by. I find it hard to buy an amp just by You Tube clips.

I would definitely try before you buy. You have two great amps, but if they do not do it for you then moving on is the thing to do. I have not heard that many CCV clips that i honestly like compared to the Marshalls Mark modified with the Aldrich and Jose mods. But hey those are my ears and internet clips so buying or not buying based on them really is not the way to go. For that amount of coin there are so many options out there to get you that growl you are talking about though IMHO. A lot of the Cameron owners will tell you the feel is the selling point along with the tone and I know the Cameron Aldrich I had the please of playing for a while was excellent. Good luck with your decisions, selling two great amps to fund one is a tough choice.

Whats a CCV and who is Mark Cameron  Is he that guy on the frozen pizza boxes?

I will defintely try before I buy!!! Thanks for the information. I do understand that some people prefer Mark's Marshall Jose and Aldrich mods over the CCV, but will he ever do mods again? What other options are there to get that growl out of an amp like the XTC 101B. I suppose modding it would be one option?

I think if you love the fluidity and mid growl/grind of the XTC, you would love the CCV too. You can hear Bogner's influence on Mark's designs IMO, at least with the CCV I owned. The CCV reminded me a lot of the XTC, with more emphasis on the mid growl, and a tighter more percussive lowend.
