I know you're asking for recommendations, but he is a consideration. I've always been a fan of Engl, I switched from Diezel to Engl a decade ago. I loved the low end aggression, the sound of the distortion, all of it. I then played in a band with a bass player that was conscious of the overall sound (who knew they were out there), and he kept complaining that me and the other guitar player were eating up is tone...he was right. When I switched to my Cameron, the overall sound of the band improved dramatically. To further that point, I have really gotten into recording and mixing over the last five months and the further down that rabbit hole I get, I realize that metal tones are carved out in the low end, so the bass can sit in the mix. To that end, now that I've tuned my ears to that, you can't have the low end in your guitar rig. Sonically, it doesn't work in a band. Yes, it sounds great at home and if that is all that you are doing, that is cool too, but if you're in a band, do yourself a favor and don't worry about the low end.
