Yeah, that looks like a different layout. Could possible still be the same internally. Anyhow - the amp sounds better without it :)
Nah, you see where mine is. Sometimes it’s on ten though. Just depends what I am going for…

Mine arrives tomorrow. 😎

Know nothing about the technical details, but I doubt I will ever move the Bright from max. Absolutely love it!

From about 6-10 is generally where mine is, just depends what I am going for and which guitar I am using. Had about 30 minutes with it so far. Lots of tones to pick from.

I’ve been rolling preamp tubes on this thing and find that I like RFT’s in 1-4. And surprisingly, I prefer the stock JJ in the PI. Tried all my typical faves there and prefer the JJ.

There is a touch more amp hiss with this lineup, but the tone is ridiculous 🤞

I may grab a Zuul to put in the loop of the PS2 when I wire everything up. Haven’t decided yet. Im gonna try one of my OG Decimator pedals first. I don’t usually use a gate in the loop, so it will be new to me.

My MC1 shipped originally (2004-5) with all chinese 12ax7’s. The old 90’s ones I always liked. That is what Ive stuck with for preamp tubes. May eventually switch this new one over, but it sounds great as is so may be awhile.

I don’t have what I used to, but still have a decent stash of NOS preamp tubes. Big fan of the old school Chinese 8th and 9th gen tubes along with Mullards, RFT’s, old school Mesa labeled of all flavors, etc.

After trying a lot of variations in my MCII, all RFT’s hit the spot, except for v5 and v6, I left the JJ’s in there. I tried several of my normal culprits in the PI and was surprised the JJ sounded and felt the best.

Unusual, as I don’t typically use more than 1 or 2 RFT’s in an amp.

With that said, I think I only have 1 RFT left in a box, so may need to find a few more, which is a PITA, as I find that a lot of them are fragile/microphonic, but when you find good ones they sound great and last forever.

Those older Chinese are my favorite for anything but Fenders really. They were always quiet as long as you got the 12ax7b’s. I pretty much quit tube rolling eons ago, nothing wrong with it though. Not as picky as I used to be. Haven’t looked to see what is in my MCII40. Assume they are JJ. Sounds great so far.

I have all sorts of tubes and have tried various combinations in Wizards. None of those changes has any significant impact on the overall tone/feel compared to swapping speakers in your cab. These days… as long as I’m using some combination of Redbacks alone or with v30s or Creamback H75, or v30/H75… the tone sounds great no matter what tubes I’m using

I’ve never done much speaker switching, but have owned a lot of cabs over the years with a lot of different speaker combo’s.

Im down to 2 cabs these days. My Avatar Vintage 412 is loaded with v30’s that I’ve been using for decades. This cab sent all the others, including quite a few high end cabs packing.

My other cab is a Synergy 212 I bought recently, when I had a Syn50 that I liked quite a bit. I believe the cab is similar, possibly the same as Friedman cabs. It has v30’s as well and sounded great right out of the box. My past experience is that it takes a while for v30’s to settle in, but this one didn’t.
