If it comes across that way then I apologise - I just call things as I see it. It's only an opinion. Everyone has opinions. That's all they are. I don't tippy toe around things or try to be somehow polite or coy... I just say what I think. I thought that's what everyone does here basically. I see this place as somewhere you can shoot the breeze about anything and have an interesting debate rather than just blindly agreeing with everything for the sake of harmony. Sometimes when you do that you take a position that may be more extreme than your true position just to make a point. Nothing is clear cut.

The shit you read or get on the TV or the internet is not even remotely the same as living here. Your problem is you believe you understand what it's like based on shit other people show you. Shit that has been cherry picked by your media as well as our media. The media is not an accurate representation of any country. You see what they want you to see and you are given the information they want you to have and not the information they don't want you to have. You don't have any more of an understanding of what it's like to be American than I do what it's like to be Australian.

Also a good number of people here on this forum concentrate a lot of time ruminating about the things they perceive as major faults with the American government. And I'm not saying they're wrong. What I am saying is that I almost agree, as much as I hate to say it, with Sharvell Dan in as much as at least for me, where I live, most of the bullshit you see on TV or the internet HERE, much less on the complete opposite side of the planet, doesn't even really affect me. The candy asses can pass all the mother fucking gun laws they want and all the queer rights laws they want. The heart of the country don't give a fuck. We gone do what we gone do. The sheriffs, cops and people down here carry guns and always have. Long before douchebag, power hungry politicians figured out that the way to get our votes was to pretend they give a fuck about the 2A.

You have met right next to zero Americans. Only what you see on TV and the internet. You are most certainly not in any position to judge if Americans are insular and arrogant. TGP is not a microcosm of the entire country.

What I am saying is that I almost agree, as much as I hate to say it, with Sharvell Dan in as much as at least for me, where I live, most of the bullshit you see on TV or the internet HERE, much less on the complete opposite side of the planet, doesn't even really affect me. They will plant hipster coffee shops on your main street eventually and turn it in to a mini Brooklyn when every other second and third tier urban area is too expense to buy a house. Your “conservative” legislature will eventually pass gun laws after the next prozac’d nut shoots a school. The local police department love that army surplus gear and the corporations and gates foundations of the world are buying everyone else out. Dude, there is no main street here. The shootings in this state happen in the democrat run shitholes that are St. Louis and KC. Our sheriff is a regular on a radio program called 2A Tuesday and we have a state law that prohibits state LEO or legislators from cooperating with the feds on the enforcement of any unconstitutional gun laws. The penalty is a $50,000 fine and permanent disbarment from working in the state ever again. If you haven't noticed more than half the country now has permitless carry. Gun control is as unpopular as it has ever been in my lifetime, even with the media showing everyone bullshit stats about so called "Mass shootings". The high school kids here still have shotguns and rifles in the back windows of their trucks and the first week of deer season the school is closed.

I suspect it will creep in here if the revolution doesn't come first. But it won't be in my lifetime.
