For those of you who can take off your political rose colored glasses on either side of the isle and watch this and open your eyes and possibly open your mind to sound logic you may come away with a different perspective ... either way losing Canada as a trade partner will effect the United States financially in a devastating way.

Also, let me get this out of the way now as some of you may want to discredit Michael Cohen and all I will say to that is he is presenting the actual statements that were made by Ronald Regan so you can see it for yourself . I'm not trying to change anyone's mind about how you feel about Michael one way or another but this will like it or not impact the fractured economic state of the U.S. even more as Canada was one of our most important trading partners. This impact will be felt !

I appreciate your comment but there is nothing Canada provides that can't be got elsewhere.

Sure, logistics costs will increase but this is where Trump's people need to secure better purchasing prices from other countries with very low currency value. Australia comes to mind. Sth America etc...Tax credits, import duty credits etc etc...

I have every confidence a better deal can be made elsewhere which includes the increase in logistics costs.

I've made no secret that I don't like the way Trump has treated Canada and Australia with respect to Tariffs. I've said over and over it's not the way you treat friends that have stuck by you through thick and thin. Saying that doesn't make me a lefty. Far from it. I'm a fucking patriot. Also you had a 2:1 trade surplus with us - so treating us badly to use Trump's own words against him.

Well given you have a trade surplus with us we should double your 10% tariffs on us to a 20% one on the US right? That's how it works according to Trump.

Carney has said that Canada will focus on other trading partners. We can no longer rely on the US.

Smart move. China will buy every ounce of natural gas and every drop of oil we want to sell. Our minerals and other resources are highly sought out globally as well.

This is not going to be pain free for anyone, despite what the talking heads will spew out.

Pretty sad situation, as the US/Canada have been very good to each other for a very long time. We help each other out, and have fought against the biggest enemies shoulder to shoulder.
