Celestion 25W Greenback. Opinions please.

Never had a set, but I am looking, too. I have a few questions to add:

1. Will a loaded 4x12 consistently withstand a 100 watt Super Lead at 8-10 (Bright input only)? Or is it just "a matter of time" before you burn cash to replace blown speakers?

2. Heritage vs. "normal" Greenback -- is there a preference/difference as to how each will handle #1?

3. What differences will a broken in newer Greenback vs. a broken in newer Heritage Greenback sound/feel like live? In recording?

Iconic classic to hard rock speaker. Tight low end and a nice crispy upper mid bite. Nothing ice picky about 'em.
Not everyone can swing the UK pre-rola's, but I preferred the standard greenback to the heritages. There was a weird mid honk in the heritages that I tried so I stuck with the standards. Cheaper too.

Eventually, running a 100w head through a 4x12 created some fatigue and the bottom end was getting a little flubby so I switched them out for 65w Scumback M75's and have a happy camper since. IME, the same characteristics of the greenback with more power handling.

I think 25W greenbacks are my favorite speakers. I've had a bunch of different types of newer ones (6402 and 1777 cones, made in China and made in England). They've got an incredible midrange, nice high end, and though the bottom isn't especially tight, it's satisfying to me - although something like a Rectifier does start to overpower them a little.

For Celestions, I don't think they've made an excellent greenback in a long time. The 6402 cone G12Ms were really nice, but in all honesty, Scumbacks are my preference. I'm using 25w M75s in a Bogner 4x12, and they sound as good as I've ever heard.

Matter of time. I'd use a 50w head or a full stack.

I own quite a few GBs spanning from the early 80's to around 2005 (Chinese). They all sound different. No doubt the 80s are my favorite.

A nice tonal quality to them but i feel mine might be a bit spikey in the highs. Just a tad... a bit of shrillness. Might be the avatar cab though. (vintage 4 x 12 size) I've always wanted to try the eminence GB12's to see how they faired or the private jack.

I've owned a pair and have to say I prefer those over the v30s I have now. People might tell you otherwise, but it all comes down to preference.
