Around 2009 I found and bought two mint original cones Fender JBL D120-F's both 16 ohm which was rare in a 1982B cabinet with two 6402 Celestion greenbacks and I did not find any Ed magic in the JBL D120-F's that I had.
I happily sold them for more than I paid and moved on from the JBLD120 lore. Yeah, they may have been mic'd and mixed in with the greenbacks/blackbacks in the studio for VH1 but aside from that I highly doubt they were Ed's favorite speaker.
If you really have to hear it for yourself the only modern speaker that comes close to the JBL is Weber's California or find yourself an original JBLD120F.
No, I don't think there is any speaker that combine characteristics of the Celestion and JBL. IMHO something like that would be a hot mess.
