Ceriatone chupacabra 50 amp

I'm going to be up front and just say that I don't agree with how long it takes Mark Cameron to turn around amps. He has issues but is a really good dude and his amps rule, I HAVE A PLEXI WITH HIM RIGHT NOW THAT I AM WAITING ON for a number of years... although his lead times are getting better for his production amps.

But two wrongs don't make a right.... Nik from ceriatone could have contacted Mark and asked him if he needed help producing amps, or at least permission so Mark could make a few bucks, and Nik probably could make even more money if he had did that. But instead he either had someone out here in the US ( i think the midwest some amp tech) blueprint a CCV and or some mod(s) and then took a personal stab at Mark, the guy he just ripped off and is making money off of by calling the amp a chupacabra...." a mythical create that no one see's or heres from: ? Man that's foul...

I'll go on record to say that I have never once seen a "Jose" amp with 3 way bright switches or era control , or how bout the hidden focus push pull which is pretty much the gain cut switch mark added later to the ccv by the input jack.... Ceriatone ripped off Cameron....

It's great the amp is available
it's great that im sure it will sound cool
its great that is so cheap
It's not so great though because if your fav builder or friend got hosed and ripped off you'd stick up for them, whether it be Mark Cameron, Fortin, FJA, Or ETC... take it from that perspective...

You're years of work, and intellectual property robbed from you... very bogus

I'll be doing a full hi res photo shoot with a detailed schematic and instructions for everyone to see...

Who determined this amp was a Cameron rip off? What evidence is there to support that? Other than some similarities in certain features, I'm not sure anyone could say it is some sort of clone.

...I really think you are reading too much into this ,I dont think it was deliberate attack at all .there is a guy who mods Randall modular stuff .His mod is called a Chupacabra .as well .its just a name.

Geez, lots of talk. Let's hear some clips. I hope this amp lights a fire under some of the other builders to make a great amp, decent turn around, and good customer service. Not too much to ask I think. Turn it up!!!

I asked this question at the top of page two with no answer...just continued speculation without justification.

Nothing that hasn't been done before Mark. Every amp built today is some form of a "rip off".
Seriously!

What is "Marks three way switch design"? I have a 3 way mid/gain boost on my amp and I've never seen a Cameron! Did Mark invent the 3 way switch ?

Not for nothing guys but we are getting real close to sounding like TGP with the cloners screaming Nik is ripping off their rip-offs..............................

Let's wait till somebody gets off their ass and post something other than lip service reviews and then we can all sit in our little knitting circle and bitch while polishing our amps with baby diapers and updating the flipping attention whore blue book guide.

I think the amp obviously borrows heavily from Mark's design. (and yeah, the name is kind of a stab at Mark IMO, and no I'm not reading too far into it) but I think it's a good thing. The amp won't sound exactly like a Cameron and at such a great price point, it's a chance for people who probably will never get to play one of Mark's amps due to cost or whatever other factors, to own a great amp.

But come on, the name Chupacabra is most definitely a play on Mark's scarcely seen amplifiers.

Like I said earlier, the Chupacabra is a shape-shifter and/or many things in one. This amp is capable of many different sounds (especially with the Era switch). That is most likely why the name was chosen... Not because of Mark Cameron's reclusive reputation.

So you have this amp?

Who the fuck has this fucking amp?!?!?!?

Massive stupid amounts of street cred for the first to post clips AND gut shots.

Shape shifter????

Doppelganger amp?????

This amp could be the greatest kit ever and I can see outstanding business opertunities for builders with this platform, just rename the fucker.

I'll still take a cameron.

you watch your ass

:hys:

...and I've got to agree with DJ as well. Couldn't have said it better actually.

All modded amp guys base some of their amps on a Marshall. Marshall has the most copied amps in the world. And now we acuse and amp builder, Ceriatone who bases all their amps on marshall and fender of copying a marshall copy cat? That is ironic as hell! Especially since no one cares that the big guys in the industry got copied for decades and decades!!!

This case reminds me of the new slash signature AFD a copy of a copy

again.... No disrespect to anyone here because I like everyone here on rig talk and this is just a forum.... But if someone took food off your table you'd be upset...

AND furthermore i know damn well if someone Ripped off Something from Mike Fortin , that the tune would be different..... JUST SAYING

Of course I'd be upset if someone ripped me off. But they're not. So I'm not upset. :)

Competition between manufacturers is good for me as a consumer. That's the way it is. I'm happy there are more options available. That means prices will become more competitive and my choices of what products to buy become more varied. That's a good thing. Sure, it sucks for the manufacturer who did it first and gets to charge a shit-tone of money for it. But they'll get over it. That's what it means to run a business – finding new, creative ways to solve problems.

If Car Company B comes out with a competitor/copy of my car, from Car Company A, but it's $10,000 cheaper will I be all upset and butthurt over it? No. I'd be sad I didn't know about the cheaper alternative or kick myself in the ass for not waiting longer to save some money. But I have no stake in the matter unless I own stock in one of the companies or something...

My point is, it shouldn't matter to you unless you're somehow personally involved. In fact, it should be just the opposite. You should be GLAD that there's a new product out there that's competing with the current offerings.

Exactly. Why are you people getting upset? Good move on Nick's part. Look at all the hype he has generated. I would have bought a CCV awhile ago, but too me it is not an option because of the customer service among other things. My choice! I could care less if others enjoy being subjected to masochism. Maybe it's time for a little "What goes around comes around" No doubt about the fact, probably unintentionally, Mark has created allot of suffering. This a fact!!! Mark is Sauron and some of you guys are his Nazgul.

Having fun with others, I have always been a big fan of Mark's work but there is no combating Nik and his army of 3rd world builders. Hell he even offer's the internet famous Tag Dumble

In the end Nik cannot offer the player's touch and ear like Mark or Mike Fortin and have zero interest in the rising sun Jose.
