Guys....this thread sounds like it was written by a bunch of women.....really....way too much drama for nothing. Its a new amp you can buy for a good price and get a great tone. Its nothing more complex than that. Is it really gonna come down to somebody posting gut shots to try to prove a point? And who here can look at the guts of this amp and say....oh yeah, that's Marks design? Really? Ive lost my desire to post a clip in this thread.....im sure someone would pipe in and just say it sounds like shit or a CCV sounds better or some stupid shit.

how about just a vid of you in cut off jean shorts in snakeskin boots next to the Chupacabra?
  Thanks for making me laugh! I was in danger of becoming a woman!

Lots on this forum can tell you EXACTLY what circuit Nic used regardless of the origin.

JUST SAYING!!

Not for nothing guys but we are getting real close to sounding like TGP with the cloners screaming Nik is ripping off their rip-offs..............................

Let's wait till somebody gets off their ass and post something other than lip service reviews and then we can all sit in our little knitting circle and bitch while polishing our amps with baby diapers and updating the flipping attention whore blue book guide.

Gear forums: Where playing comes last.

I'd love to see a chassis shot of the upside down CCV PCB, expecially since there's no risk to doing it because it's flipped over I wish someone would post it up.

I still don't get the amps name vs cameron thing

chupacabra is a folkloric creature that feeds on cattles blood
chupacabra literally means GOATSUCKER in spanish and portuguese
is Mark Cameron's nickname goat or something?
cause THAT would be funny

any experient guy could easily come up with amp with all those features and that is voiced pretty much like a Cameron without never having played or seen his circuits
both Cameron Jose and Fortin Cali are heavily based on the Arredondo mods, and that ain't no secret

I can even figure out that Ceriatone myself
there are many possible features that could be called "era switch" that would change the entire response of an amp with only one switch and no relays
a bigger cathode capacitor wired to a switch or some negative feedback tweaker
but according to Nik, it messes with the Master, so it's probably just the Jose master switching (pre-tonestack diode clipped master vs regular non-clipped post-tonestack master)
both Cameron and Fortin use that feature (and apparently Dave Friedman's saturation switch)
even the Peavey VTM has a switchable diode clipped tonestack/master in a very similar way the Jose master is wired

bright switches are used by Fender for 60 years and they can be wired in many preamp spots and with different values... or even as a power amp presence mod, or a reversed treble cut in the phase inverter
probably just a 3 position bright switch with 2 cap values (or no cap at all) in the gain pot (like a XTC) and another one after the second stage

focus is somekind of midrange voicing switch, so it could be a cathode cap mid boost/bass cut or some serial bass filtering

even the guys at Bugera could think that by themselves

of course this is pure speculation, but if even I can come up with those VERY SIMPLE ideas (I can't solder a fuckin wire), how come Nik can't?
why would he bother buying an expensive Cameron and having to scratch out all that epoxy crap just to copy OBVIOUS features?
from the clips, the amp doesn't even sound anything like a Cameron
I doubt it has any of Mark's personal tricks

Isn't all amps ripped off of someone else's with their perhaps their own little twist?

That would be funny, be I think it's a little more of a creative play on words by Nik. A chupacabra is also a a very rarely seen creature, and that's the part that I believe he directed toward Mark's products. Really a good move on his part, but you can see how between that and the similarities to the CCV, he would be pissed. I know I would be.

Just a few chords ...maybe you get some idea of what this sounds like in the room....Maybe....

Well if may resemble if you think that Mark sucked on the customers blood and dissapeared never to be seen again...(and all the fools, sailed away...)

OK.cool, I can accept that. Im sorry this is the best I can do right now. My 57 is at the studio, and I wont be able to lay down a real clip for a few days. Someone will pipe in with a high quality clip im sure. All I can say is....if your looking for a modded Marshall...do yourself a favor and talk to Nik. You wont be dissapointed. Ive spent a lot of money on amps lately, and this one is my favorite. Yeah, yeah...honeymoon....I know.

come on...
it's a BITING amp based on a latin american builders work that was usually portrayed on ads with a very stereotypical mexican figure with the big hat and everything
it could be the CERIATONE COYOTE SANGRIENTO HIJO DE PUTA DE LA MUERTE

why does it have to be about Mark?
besides being Marshall based, I still can't see any other similtary with the CCV
many amps have switches arranged like that
unless Nik made some comment about Cameron or they had an old grudge, I just can't make a connection
I doubt Mark gives a shit about this amp
and if he does, that's a real shame, being a Marshall/José ripper himself

Potential is there, sounded good.

Thanks for the clip, it is much better than rig-TALK. :D

Exactly why I went ahead and did a low quality clip....better than talk, I agree.

I can do that. Honestly, I haven't had the gain past 1 o'clock yet. Both gains were at about 1 oclock on this vid. Im still getting to know this amp, theres a ton of settings to experiment with. There's a lot of gain available. More than I would ever use.

That's the worst copy of a CCV I've ever seen. It doesn't sound anything like it!!! :gethim: :gethim:

:D

Sounds like a hot rodded 800 to me.
