Changed the v1 tube on my Slo 30

I have an SLO 30. I dig it! I feel all frequencies are present in this amp. Thick low mids and mids, high mids and highs. As some one already stated cranking the presence brings out the high mids and highs. Use the treble to control the highs. Also as someone else recommended the Tungsol in V1 will cut a bit of the lows and low mids and highlight the other frequencies. Also, like many amps, if you’re playing at lower volumes the low end can be a bit flubby. The higher you get the volume the more it firms up.
Thats cool to know. I don't think I have actually tried a Tungsol but will!

So you guys are buying $3k amps and fucking around with tubes to make it sound acceptable to your ears?
Slo 30's are 2k used and a Wizard is actually an expensive overpriced amp even used -I've owned 2

A $30 pre amp is nothing to make a huge difference but there's always a Line 6 pod :p

I absolutely love mine I haven't messed with tubes at all. I bought it used and I run it through an EVH 4-12 cabinet with the celestion Greenback evh speakers. It works for the music I play I don't do the real hardcore metal stuff.

That is a sweet set up. Would love to get one of those EVH cabs one day. I’ve been running my SLO 30 through the standard greenbacks and they work really good

I love to roll tubes. I'm prepping a new bare headshell for snakeskin tolex for my SLO-30 now, so the chassis is out and it's way easier to roll tubes that way. Should be done in the next day or two, then she goes back together and I'll leave her in with those tubes for a while.

I run a 1960BX and EVH cab together. Had a SLO30 for a bit, and run a Synergy rig with the SLOII as my main tone. The EVH cab is slightly warmer. Clearly audible moving in front of one cab to the other. I love both.

For reference this is me with my 1st Slo 30. 22k views all agree it sounds pretty dam good!

At the end I have my phone on the amp, fun crowd!!

Another live vid

Sounds great man. Of all the amps you've had which are your favorite?

Checked out your live with the alta, that seems to really cut.

Thanks!
Right now the Slo 30 and then the Jake 50w.
I LOVED the Alta in my studio. Really has the Marshall kerrang, but used it 3 x live. Twice outdoors and once at the casino and they all were too shrill as a result of that kerrang. Also can be thin.
To my ears for that tone the boosted Jake plexi side is more even in the top end and full.
The slo is more aggressive but still sweet in the gain crunch side! I still need to try the Tungsol pre amp tube! :m17:
