I love the neck shape and the fretboard radius. The necks are really comfortable feeling...super easy to play.
I dig the hardware and the pickups they're using...it's a killer superstrat, on paper, it's my dream guitar.

I recently bought a So Cal and a San DImas and sold them, I wanted to love them but they're just not for me. :dunno:

They don't really have those in-between straty tones, my guess that's why they're not for you. I bet if you built an HSS Charvel:
Charvel neck + alder So Cal body
Strat pickguard (with some kind of PAF + good single coils) with a 5-way switch and tone controls.
Chrome floyd (or maybe vintage trem)
That would rule... ;)

I still have a San Dimas here. I'd like to just keep the neck.
I've been thinking over the past week that I should disassemble it, sell the parts off individually and just keep the neck to start over with a new body...I know I like the neck, which is a great start.

Keep it and put it on a more strat-inspired body... It will RULE!!
I'd like to just go with a regular nut and vintage type trem though.
Maybe I could somehow place a nut where the locking nut was?

Waht say you!! :D

I'm sure it can be done. I think I've seen it done actually. They'd have to route the neck a bit.
I believe I've seen some of Paul Gilberts and Andy Timmons' Ibanez's converted from floyd to hardtail. They had some kind of graphite nut in place of the locking nut.

they have those messed up bridge thingies that go out of tune whenever you touch the long thingie that sticks out of the messed up bridge thingie.

Oh! You are thinking of the early Charvels and Jacksons, these don't come with Kahlers.

I have a candy purple USA San Dimas style 2 for sale as well...I'm asking $600 and it still won't sell.
Anything less and I might as well part it out and try to make more money that way.

Not sure what I'll do...I'm pretty set for guitars really.
I love my Wolfgang special, I'm totally comfortable on it, so I'm set for a double coil guitar.
The Wolfgang and the EVH Axis are the only floyd equipped guitars that I've ever really liked. I love the new Fender EVH guitar as well.

Not really  At first I was like "whoa!!...this is awesome!"...but then I realized that I didnt like the neck as much as I thought. Ive been playing EBMM's for so long that all other necks feel either too wide or too flat

Im gonna sell it and look for another axis or wolfgang. That's if I can even get rid of this thing :aww:

Same boat here, you won't know it's not for you until you try.
I've had it on Craigslist for 6 weeks. I don't get it, it's a good quality, made in the USA guitar. Pickups and hardware are all quality stuff...must be the economy and/or Christmas coming. You could try parting it out.

It seems the Charvel love is mainly just here on Rig Talk and not the rest of the world. :D

You're trying to get too much for it. When Charvel discontinued the Style 2 Tele's, they sold all the rest of them they had to dealers for way less and gave every dealer who still had them in stock a discount. For the last year of dealers trying to sell them they were $650 brand new in a box with warranty. And the Tele shape is not the 1st or 2nd or 3rd thing people think of when they hear "Charvel". From a sales standpoint, the Tele was a fail. When i've had used Tele's in I've sold them for like $450 to $489. Of course that's in American dollars. I'm not sure what a Canadian sheckle is worth.

Thanks for the advise...you are right.
I love the tele shaped body. But I'm used to tele type bodies from playing Fender Teles, Wolfgangs and Axis guitars.
I know they were clearing them out, but now that they have disappeared for good, and only Japan models are in stores, I was hoping the USA model would be more appealing.

$550 hopefully works. I'd be shocked if I had to go to $500...I mean, made in Mexico stuff is going for more than that.

It's a feakin' nightmare isn't it!

The Charvel is made in the USA, has a JB and a 59 pickup, a floyd rose, grover tuners, nice knurled metal knobs, killer neck profile...there's no junk on this guitar.

....and MIM strats with cheap generic pickups and no-name trems are going for more money used.
