What did you pay for yours?
I have about $700 in it. I did some work for a guy and he threw the guitar in on the deal. I didnt think I'd have a problem getting $650-$700 out of it...its brand spankin' new

I just think you weren't aware that the price on the Tele's was not the same as the strats. Like I said, stores were selling them brand new with full warranty for $649 for about the last year. So IMO getting $550 for a like new, but still a used one would be unbelievably strong resale value. It doesn't mean the markets soft on the Charvels, it just means your estimation of it's resale value wasn't on.

I agree with RVS. $500 for a Tele style and $650-750 for a strat style with these features is a steal. As someone who sold these from the beginning I will tell you that since day 1, selling the Tele's was a challenge.

We lost our shirts on teh Charvel...but the forum thinks we are cool for owning one. :D

How much did you pay for a used guitar that sold for $649 brand new that you will probably be able to get about $500 used for? How much does a shirt cost in Canada?

I know this is probably sacrilege, but i wish charvel made some without trems. Stop bar tail piece and im all over one.

Oh man! What else do you want, a Ferrari with an electric motor? A Les Paul with three single coils? A dog with antlers?

I got it pretty cheap, under $600 but I want more than $500 for it. :D

Like I said ...made in the USA with all quality parts, it's kind of incredible that they were/are so cheap.
For someone that loves these guitars it's a great time to scoop up a mittfull...(we wear mittens up here in Canada).

ok, who wants mine for $575? Like brand new with a brand new 'chrome' floyd rose and a 42mm big block from floydupgrades. Sounds like a good deal to me! ;) :D

edit: comes with a shirt and mittens

You're trying to get too much for it. When Charvel discontinued the Style 2 Tele's, they sold all the rest of them they had to dealers for way less and gave every dealer who still had them in stock a discount. For the last year of dealers trying to sell them they were $650 brand new in a box with warranty. And the Tele shape is not the 1st or 2nd or 3rd thing people think of when they hear "Charvel". From a sales standpoint, the Tele was a fail. When i've had used Tele's in I've sold them for like $450 to $489. Of course that's in American dollars. I'm not sure what a Canadian sheckle is worth.
Thanks for the advise...you are right.
I love the tele shaped body. But I'm used to tele type bodies from playing Fender Teles, Wolfgangs and Axis guitars.
I know they were clearing them out, but now that they have disappeared for good, and only Japan models are in stores, I was hoping the USA model would be more appealing.

$550 hopefully works. I'd be shocked if I had to go to $500...I mean, made in Mexico stuff is going for more than that.

Play one of these and stop messing around. This IS your guitar. :D

You can't put a price on "cool"...hang it on your wall for status :D

Well another Charvel seller here also ... USA Candy Tangerine So Cal ... This is def hands down one of the best guitars i've owned . Too bad it doesnt have 24 frets and a recessed floyd . I saw the new blue jap charvel floyd is recessed . The economy has really killed us as sellers . As a buyer .. hot dam you can be as picky as you want and almost name whatever price you want .. within reason . So , I've got my charvel AND Gmajor up for $800 .. take em both . I've offered trades , no luck and nothing i'd want in trade has been offered . Yup , same as the rest . I wonder if I clean it up super immaculate stick it back in my "charvel" gig bag and let it sit for a number of yrs , it'll actually be worth something . Hey first run first color USA made , serial #001857 if that means anything ... probably not . Next question if anyone knows . I know Musickraft makes charvel necks and 24 fret necks . If I put a single coil positioned further back I wonder if the 24 fret neck overhang will fit . Also will it mess up the 25.5 scale ? If that worked out .. id rout the shit out of the trem area and install my lil 59' in the neck with a new pick guard and call it a day !!! Any opinons or advice for me ? Thanks !!

Z

Should probably part out the Teles on Ebay, $100 for the MIK Floyd, $300 for the neck with the nut and tuners(pretty much the going rate for the USA ones), $100 for the pickups, and whatever you get from the body is cake.

Oh, and for the guy thinking of using the Charvel neck on another body, it's 2 1/4" neck heel, versus Fender's typical 2 3/16" heel. I would stay with Charvel parts, the SoCal's are routed like an American Std under the guard.
