Cheap power amp….

100 Watts but if it's anything like the Katana Artist it's a loud ass 100 watts for SS. I honestly thought SS power amps were garbage until I played the Artist Mkll and the new Class A/B power sections of these amps if they are anything like the ones in the Boss Artist are good.

The older SS Peavey stuff just can't compare but yeah I wouldn't frown on a Classic 60/60 Power amp or whatever.

On my Katana Artist in 5 watt mode, it keeps up with the Princeton Reverb Reissue or AC15 and that is a loud ass 5 watts and loud 100 watts in general for SS, thing also behaves like real amps should in the power section. If you get a chance check one out at a local store and see what you think with something like a RAT and an SD1 or TS9 as the test.

These new class A/B amps really are that good and I wouldn't be surprised if you fell in love with the Orange if it's anything like the Boss Artist stuff. Its that good and well keeps up with tubes IMO.

YMMV
The pedal baby… I wouldn’t mind having an artist for a practice rig but my big ole Johnson fills that spot nicely…

Yeah check that out new or see if you can get it on a holiday or for a good deal somewhere otherwise used is good but if you can look for a good discount on new on a holiday especially if you can combine a sale with a coupon.

I havent tried but yeah some of these SS A/B power amps are on another level...... I mean I don't want to say exactly like tube but I will say they behave like real amps and I wouldn't be surprised if the Orange is as good or better than the Boss Katana Artist.

Definitely worth considering especially given vids and sound clips...... I know I know YouTube shit but you can really hear the quality in these even over the YouTube. Definitely consider and check out *_*

I've been down the cheap SS power amp trail and in the end... the Power Station was what quenched my thirst 🤷‍♂️, I wish I could say something cheaper was the answer, you can usually scoop one up for around $600-650, I do feel like the Friedman IR and the Wampler are going to drop prices overall in the power amp category

The Wampler Tapehead does seem like an excellent choice if you can hang on for a bit for the release

Solid state is fine btw… not a toob snob…
Then you have to try crown xls 402. More than enough power (200 Watts x 2 @ 8 Ohms) though limited to XLR Inputs and banana plugs to cabinets. Crown Power Base 1 has 100 Watts x 2 @ 8 Ohms - 1/4" inputs and banana plug power out as well. I've used both the XLS and Power Base 2 (365 Watts x 2 @ 8 Ohms) on full stacks and they kick azz. Just a thought.

The Matrix power amps are very good but they are not in the cheap category which was why I didn't mentioned them.

Maybe look for a Peavey CS800X that works well as they are getting older and may have some issues but you can uses 1/4" jacks all around. You can find them for 200-300 bucks.

As Floyd and HRjohnny pointed out old Crown power amps have a good reputation and they are relatively cheap if working properly. I've considered Crown in the past.
