i got my Crate SPA200. i think ive tried it like once lol
From their official product description:I like that the Avantone's are Class A/B but I didn't see anything about them being Mosfet driven?????
Wasn't that why Matrix stopped production, supposedly they could get the same parts any longer?
Built to the same exacting specs and exhibiting the same razor-flat frequency response as the flagship CLA-200, the hundred-watt version of Chris and Avantone's latest power amp makes the perfect platform for your passive Avantone Pro CLA10s or studio-style black-and-whites. Yet at a true 100W RMS per side and just 1% THD + noise at peak power, the Avantone CLA-100 power amplifier gives you more than enough output, headroom, and clarity to put your mixes to the test. Premium components — high-quality Japanese filter caps, MOSFET power, and an oversized toroidal transformer — gives the CLA-100 an impressive ±0.25dB response throughout the audible spectrum and beyond, even run full tilt. And since there's no onboard fan, this amp is perfect for studios where silence in the control comes at a premium. Switchable voltage (115V/230V) and stereo/bridged operation make the Avantone Pro CLA-100 power amplifier a useful addition to studios around the world.
would you say it was neutral sounding or did it color tone? From their official product description:
I had one, used it with a Synergy system. Great sounding power amp and it kept the rack weight manageable.
It's a reference monitor power amp so its very clean/neutral. But if you push it close to its headroom threshold, it adds a bit of musical clipping, typical of Mosfets. Which I think is cool.would you say it was neutral sounding or did it color tone?
Im considering one to power a 4x12 cab in a fractal rig
I had six of those in the early 90s, as three were always in getting fixed. The Rocktron Velocity 300 is killer I used one with my Kemper, it sounded fantastic.
Thanks I had only read the descriptuion what was on Sweetwater and for some reason they skipped over Mosfet. Wow these Avantone look very well built for Class A/B in 2026 and the price isn't bad at all. From their official product description:

Never had an issue with mine, worked flawlessly.I had six of those in the early 90s, as three were always in getting fixed.
Seen these live and they workGet the Orange pedal baby those are sweet.
It was between the Orange and the Duncan for me, ended up with the Duncan but lots of people dig the Orange too. Both are compact 'do exactly what they say' type productsSeen these live and they work
Yeah, even the all tube TS100 used be cheap, and are great stereo power amps. Used to be $300 or so, but they've gotten scarce.Carvins can usually be found cheap
Carvin Fet 400 ftwCarvins can usually be found cheap
My buddy bought and loves his SD.It was between the Orange and the Duncan for me, ended up with the Duncan but lots of people dig the Orange too. Both are compact 'do exactly what they say' type products
QSC is top of the line in the P.A world IME though I have a set of Yamaha powered speakers that are probably 95% as good for quite a bit less money. The only part about new powered QSC mains I don't care for is they have some kinda little display screen on them that seems ripe to get cracked in transport.ISP for the house…. Qsc for out in the wild…. Awesome. They a good brand?
