I like that the Avantone's are Class A/B but I didn't see anything about them being Mosfet driven?????

Wasn't that why Matrix stopped production, supposedly they could get the same parts any longer?

I had one, used it with a Synergy system. Great sounding power amp and it kept the rack weight manageable.

would you say it was neutral sounding or did it color tone?

It's a reference monitor power amp so its very clean/neutral. But if you push it close to its headroom threshold, it adds a bit of musical clipping, typical of Mosfets. Which I think is cool.
It should work great for your application.

The Rocktron Velocity 300 is killer I used one with my Kemper, it sounded fantastic.

Thanks I had only read the descriptuion what was on Sweetwater and for some reason they skipped over Mosfet. Wow these Avantone look very well built for Class A/B in 2026 and the price isn't bad at all.

Yeah, even the all tube TS100 used be cheap, and are great stereo power amps. Used to be $300 or so, but they've gotten scarce.

looked cool and was pretty neutral
used for an old axefx rig
havent seen one in a while
I used dcm150 for a wdw rig was light and one space was a bonus

Seeing as the Class A / AB / D categories have been mentioned, here's a nice little overview IMHO.

the Avantone CLA-100 looks interesting with 100W per side at 8 ohms. I already have an ISP Stealth Pro which is 40W @ 8 ohms per side.

that said, if you're using it with a Kemper to power guitar cabs vs using FRFR, I'd rather look at tube power amp options. you already have your guitar cabs coloring the sound...just get a tube power amp that you like?

I have an Engl E850/100 I'm using with my ISP Theta Pro Michael Sweet and MSX, and a pair of Mesa 2x12 compact cabs. Works great, sounds good, but it's more modern and tight sounding than I like...a dual 100W EL34 power amp would sound better IMO. I bough one at GC, but one channel didn't work, they didn't offer to fix it, and one of the mounting tabs was damaged in shipping so I got my money back.

QSC is top of the line in the P.A world IME though I have a set of Yamaha powered speakers that are probably 95% as good for quite a bit less money. The only part about new powered QSC mains I don't care for is they have some kinda little display screen on them that seems ripe to get cracked in transport.
