The dinky and the body on mine also has the neck and bridge slightly moved closer to the body. Almost like the feel of a shorter scale, but not. Does that make sense?

look at mine about 3 posts up, green with the crooked single HB neck... that is a dinky. Big smaller and squared off.

Ahh, got it!

A few questions for you Chubtone owners. I emailed Curt back but I know those guys are busy and easier just to ask you guys:

- When ready to order, it is via email or over the phone?
- Is it half up front and other half when finished?
- Are there obvious things (beyond parts & components) that raise the price? For example certain paint colors, doing a relic job on it, having to rout Floyd area, etc.?

One last thing. I am a fan of the "JB" tone and have one in my Mexican Charvel, Warren DeMartini Charvel, and previously had one in my G&L. I noticed alot of folks get the 59' custom/hybrid. Is this comparable with the JB and any glaring differences? I'm a hair metal guy (obviously) so just curious what the other players have been using. Thanks guys!

I never talked to him on the phone, was all email. I'm trying to get an order started for a 2nd but haven't heard back yet, they get busy. They just need $500 to get it started, rest when it's ready to ship. Mine was something already started so it was pretty much the way they built it, but I would think the stuff you mentioned would tweak the price.

I have a JB bridge and the little JB humbucker neck... but going to try the 59/custom on the new build, so curious what others here say about it.

While I don’t have a 59/hybrid, I had Jalen pickups make be a pickup based on that. It was a franky slug coil with a 78 screw coil with A5 mag. Just a tad hotter though I like it a lot. I couldn’t get the 59/hybrid in all cream.

the JB is a bit hotter. The 59/hymridbid medium gain an a bit more of a nasty voicing due to the mismatched coils

Thanks man. Yeah, I listened to a clip and could hear some of that raw/nasty in their so know what you mean. Sounded killer but I'm on the fence. Wondering if I should go with what I know or roll the dice. :)

Can you guys give some examples of the Standard and Dinky from the site? I like more of the rounded 80s Charvel San Dimas look so would that be standard shape? I need to get my ideas together so I can get my order in.

The birdseye Maple looks sick on those!! I gotta get that for sure.
Birdseye is an upcharge, just in case you weren’t aware of it.

Are you willing to cover that cost for me? Forum pals?

:D

Yeah, I guess I should have realized that. I guess I'll see how much everything is and then adjust from there. It is like someone looking at a buffet and thinking with their eyes instead of their stomach. I know I want certain things but as the price goes up, I'm sure my reality will sink in on how much I want to spend.

In the long run a few hundred ain’t gonna make or break you... Get it loaded just the way you want it r you’ll be jonsing for another lol

They'll send you an order form. All options are pretty much on there and then if you want to add to it, plenty of area's to fine tune exactly what you want i.e. pups, parts color etc... Once he gets the order back, you'll get a quote and confirm everything you want. Send the $500 and they will get started.

I went back and forth over several items after I sent in my initial order form just to fine tune with Curt. It's actually a pretty easy process, generally I'm a phone guy but I preferred this process as it kept my mind focused.

He will ask what sort of truss rod adjustment you want so if you're not familiar with those options you might look into it beforehand.
