Timothy James Krueger, 52, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for the June 16, 2022, stabbing death of Sarai Llanos Gomez. Krueger was convicted in August of this year of malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault for the death.
“We are grateful for the Court’s decision in this sentencing,” Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said. “This victim’s two young children were left motherless. Our hearts go out to them. No amount of time in prison for the defendant can bring back their mother. We hope this sentencing sends gives some level of healing to her loved ones.”
On the night of the murder, Krueger got into a dispute with Llanos Gomez about money. When she tried to leave, Krueger took a knife and stabbed her multiple times, ultimately slitting her throat. He then cut off her clothes, wrapped her body in a blanket, and carried her body to a wooded area behind a Hall County neighborhood.
Assistant District Attorneys Gabriela Benghiat, Kelli Diamond Johnson and Chief Assistant District Attorney John Melvin prosecuted the case. Investigator Tiffany Mosley and Victim Advocate Sara Gardner assisted. Gwinnett County Police Detective Ryan Jorstad and Hall County Sheriff’s Investigator Joseph Groover were invaluable in securing a confession.
