So I have a new Novo 24 wired up with Voodoo Power II, planet waves cables and a Joyo Live:

There are 3 amps I'm using: Cobra, OR100, and a DMoll

  • The STEP on the bottom left of the board is to solve the line level issue in my Framus Cobra. Using the STEP and 1 Hardwire delay in the parallel loop sounds great. Putting it back on the board creates an awful noisy mess with high gain settings.

The STEP is not needed with the other 2 amps. The OR100 also sounds fine with 1 Delay in the (serial) loop, but a mess with the big board on high gain.

The DMoll sounds astonishingly quiet and awesome with the serial loop.

So I would think there is an issue with the Voodoo II or the Joyo, but the perfection of the DMoll indicates that the Diezel loop is awesome and the others are less so. I was hoping to use the Cobra as my live gigging amp as I have 1/5th less invested in it....and I tend to like to mix up my amps a lot just for fun, so it is a bummer the pedalboard doesn't play nice with non-Diezel

Would a Metro loop be successful? Or is there a Diezel quality loop I could install on the Cobra? I'd hate to plunk down cash for a new loop and a tech to mod it if it only brings it up to OR type quality- meaning a serial loop that works well with a few pedals but not the dozen on my Novo

I may just try to build a smaller board for the Cobra and OR, use batteries and see if that does the trick. IDK, any insight appreciated!

I'm assuming the joyo live is an assignable looper. With that in mind, have you tried using only the Step the delay and the looper in the Cobra's loop? If you haven't done that I recommend trying that first and seeing if you get a noise problem. If you don't then start adding pedals one by one until you find the noise again.

Quick question: are you running the looper in front of the amp as well as in the amp's effects loop? If you are, that might be your problem right there. You might have luck using an isolation transformer.

Hope that's of some use to you.

Yes

I tried lots of isolation, but not sure if I did this...I would do this tedious process, but there is NO noise in the DMoll, so if I get a Metro loop installed, would that solve it/what is the quality level on it? Are there are other choices to consider for loop installs?

Yes

Yes, thank you for the post

Having never owned a Dmoll or had any experience with a Metro loop I can't steer you properly. However I have experienced odd ground loop issues multiple times when trying to run a Decimator ProRackG out front and in the loop of some amps BUT not others. That's why I currently run two separate Decimator pedals in my rig. No one could ever give me a reason for why this happened on some amps but not others except to say that ground is different in front and in the fx loop of some amps.
