Ran across this cool video today. I’m surprised ALL his od is from pedals. I kinda thought he’d have some od from the amp. Might have to check out that JHS pedal!

Yeah, his tone makes a pretty good argument for the quality of modern OD pedals. Of course, he'd make a blender sound like a full stack.

I was shocked to learn that as well. His videos actually part of what got me into messing with OD pedals again.
If you have a good clean tone or two already, it’s an “inexpensive” to explore new sounds.

Andy is amazing. I also think Paul Gilbert uses pedals only into a clean Marshall if I remember correctly. Swapping out pedals for various flavors is easier than lugging around various amp heads i guess.

The JHS A+ is cool. It has a lot of gain but it’s filtered for primarily mids / low mids, so you get a ton of compression and clipping, but what comes out is mostly the fundamental of the note. Great for the stuff he does that revolves mostly all around the melody.
