How about your state government suspending gas taxes? That would lower the costs too. State tax on gas per gallon ranges from $0.15 (Alaska) to $0.58 (Pennsylvania), and averages $0.2915 to $03260 per gallon.
I bought regular gas at Shell (not the cheapest) for $3.699 a gallon, and regular at Chevron for $3.799 a gallon (also not the cheapest); I could save $0.10 a gallon if a join their rewards programs. The cheapest regular gas here is $3.09 a gallon. Our state has temporarily suspended state tax on gas, but we're a red state.
Fact is, Iran's oil wells are based on older designs (same for Iraq); they are more susceptible to damage if shutdown before the oil is depleted, causing lower output and possibility of contamination on a restart. UAE, Saudi Arabia, etc., use newer well technology that doesn't have this problem, or has it to a lesser degree, limited to their older oil wells.

Well, if you are talking politics, then it's clear. In an election year, no blue state Governor is going to suspend the gas tax. Why give their political opponents shelter from the sting consumers are facing at the pump? High pump prices will be a sore point for voters in November. Look at December oil futures/deliveries and current spot market prices. You think the price of oil will be outside that range? Pump prices will remain elevated for the rest of the year. The Federal government created this mess, why not suspend the federal tax?
And at a practical level, politicians know (or should know) from past analysis that most of the tax suspension doesn't get passed onto the consumer—it goes into the profit margins of suppliers and retailers.

Letting the current government of Iran exist - even though it's the result of US and UK internal interference - for 40+ years was a mistake; and the longer we waited to deal with this regime the more difficult and costly it became. Reagan should have taken them out before they gained total and solid control of Iran, while they were still weak. Once they started abusing their own people at a large scale, and the people tried to uprise we had another chance, and obama did nothing but send them cash for nothing.
This is the price the US has to pay with interest for the 1953 Iran coup and installation of the Shah. Its long overdue, and worth the price IMO.
I have boats, cars and three motorcycles, one car requires premium gas, and the boats and motorcycles require ethanol free, and at 90 octane at $4.89 a gallon, I still buy it. If you can't afford gas or groceries you're either living above your means, have kids you can't afford, or some other bad financial choices.

Trump did what's best for the US not for the midterms. I fully expect demoncrats to do well in the midterms even without the Iran conflict because most American voters are useless idiots and illegal invaders who only want free shit from the government, combined with demoncrat election fraud...
