So good
Picked this up recently and was just about to mod it. However, I figured I’d run it through the Power Station just to see how it sounds as is. Let’s just say I won’t be modding it anymore. Sounds way too good to mess with it.
This is a recent build done by a guy in San Diego somewhere. I’m not really sure of any other details as I received it second hand. But he did a phenomenal job. It’s a completely stock circuit based on a 1987 Marshall. All mustard caps and turret board. Classic Tone PT and Heyboer OT.
This is Les Paul with Roxy bridge straight into amp, all EQ on 10. Little bit of depth added from the PS100. Light delay also through PS100 from a Strymon DIG.
This is a good example of how much gain these NMV amps can produce when turned up and allowed to breathe.
I have a 69’ Super Lead that gets pretty gainy too when cranked. But the 50w has more of that compression and sag. It’s nice to have both 100 and 50w versions to beat on the PS100 with.
It’s got a mix of carbon film and carbon comp.It would be a crime to touch that beyond normal maintenance.
What resistors are in this? They can’t be newer carbon films, they don’t sound like that. You didn’t mention the noise floor being outrageous so they can’t be old carbon composition either?
How was the DIG set?
I'm always in 12 bit with lower modulation. Very close to the sde3000Time around 1 o clock, mix around 11 o clock. Medium modulation, 12 bit mode. mix 2 off.
It’s such a killer delay. I used to use an El Cap. But the DIG kicked it off my board. Better with high gain.I'm always in 12 bit with lower modulation. Very close to the sde3000
I’m shocked there are that many carbon films in it and it sounds like that. I tried them in my build and it was an immediate stop everything, shut down, and remove situation lol. I stopped sourcing them based on the recent stuff we prefer to use now. It’s got a mix of carbon film and carbon comp.
Preamp filter is 33uF. Rest is 50uF.
Same. It's seen many delays come n go.I

Yeah it’s mostly carbon film. The amp is a little beast. Maybe it’s the Mustards. Like anything else, it’s just the right combination of parts. It’s got a lot of plate voltage.
