A lot of departments certainly don't elevate training when it comes to firearms. But it's not always from lack of wanting, it's often from budget problems and/or decisions by useless administrations. Often composed of DEI hires.Exactly. Force on force and realistic training while Adrenalin is spiked is as close as it gets without the real thing. Unfortunately it’s not enough for everyone. It’s a mindset. There are a lot of cops who aren’t interested in guns or training. They shoot once a year at quals and pray they never have to use a gun. There’s a lot of civilians carrying guns that will just get themselves killed, maybe be even by their own gun, because they think having a gun makes them safe. In reality they don’t have what it takes to calmly act with zero hesitation in a life or death situation.
Hence the axiom: You will not rise to the occasion, you will fall to the level of your training.
