Damn It! Now I Want A New Pedal!

I just learned about the KMA Machines Geminus pedal, and it seems pretty sweet. It is a double tracker pedal like the TC Electronic Mimiq, which is an integral part of my stereo rig. It's still pretty new, so the odds of me finding a used one to try is a long shot. I would either have to drop $280+ on a new one, or try to be okay with my current rig knowing there is a pedal out there that is better. Really, the Mimiq Mini is already a tight fit on my board, so I might just have to let it go, but I wanna try it!

Here's a shootout I found that was pretty good. Listen in stereo.

Guys, digital delays have been around for over 40 years. The technology is good enough now to make pretty good digital copies. That's all this thing is is a hyper specific digital delay with features that cater to a specific usage. For use in a stereo rig, a doubler is a must. It makes two full stacks sound like two full stacks and not just one big mono signal coming from the drummer.

I'm just wondering if it's really worth it to bump the Mimiq for a new doubler.

On the Mimiq, the level controls are at unity gain when fully cranked. Leon had the volumes way down at 2:00 and 3:00, so the pedal was sucking a bunch of volume from the guitar before it hit the amp. Of course it's going to turn the guitars anemic when set like that.

I like Leon but this is a really bad comparison. I have a Mimiq and it doesn't change the tone nearly as much as it does in his video.

edit: he even addresses this in his video, but he's wrong. Maybe his pedal is broken or something. When I plug mine in and even when I only plug in one side so I'm not distracted by the stereo thing, the tone does not change when I flip the pedal on and off.

That's true. I use my Mimiq Mini like that, with the dry off and the wet cranked just on one side if the stereo split. I don't notice the tone difference he gets. I might just roll with what I got.

I know it's kind of a messed up idea to most people here but you could always stick to just practicing instead.

Doom cred is all about volume. The loudest band is the best, not the most technical. I usually practice faster than we play live anyways. Two full stacks, nice and slow.

I love the Mimiq but hate TC. Glad to see some competition to consider when the Mimiq inevitably dies. I’m typically an analog guy but this is an effect that can only be done digitally, and it’s night/day different if you’re a single guitarist in a band.
