Old Charvel's are painted in Poly so they don't age like that.

Shit, Vai's evo has 95% of it's paint and that guitar has been through wars

What did you get?

I trotted out a HSS/FR strat to some Halloween gigs we did, and to my astonishment, realized that 75% of the solos I cover end by dragging that last D to an E. Never again with 21 frets.

Actually older Fenders and Gibsons with nitro finish do age and the paint wears naturaully like that. Poly finish is thick and simply wont wear like that unless you take sand paper to it.

Well here's an idea. Buy a used Charvel for $650 and take a power sander to it. Relic..done.

The first 2 are horrible, especially the black one, it looks like they just used sandpaper to remove the paint on the top.

The White one looks pretty good.....................
