Here is the problem:

Old Charvel's are painted in Poly so they don't age like that.

Other than Blackie and SRV's strats what has ever aged like those hack fender relics???

Shit, Vai's evo has 95% of it's paint and that guitar has been through wars

Actually older Fenders and Gibsons with nitro finish do age and the paint wears naturaully like that. Poly finish is thick and simply wont wear like that unless you take sand paper to it.

Poly will definitely wear down that much if given enough time. I have seen plenty of late 60s and 70s strats with just as much wear as these. Do they look realistic? No, because fender sucks at relicing. :D

Relics are the store-torn-jeans of guitars. It's dopey. I never look at a beautiful new guitar and say "Man can you imagine that thing when the finish is fucked up?". It's like looking at a nice pair of tits and thinking "I can't wait till those things are hitting her knees!!"

That last cream one looks pretty cool...the rest look like new guitars that were just rubbed on the concrete a few times. They don't look aged, they look abused.

Let me be the first to say that I love relic'd guitars but not relic'd women. :D :D

Gotta say I love my Charvel, but is it really that
hard to make a string thru body Charvel? Has
there ever been one? That's what I'd like to
see/own.I've been trying to find something to
replace the Floyd that's on it but no such luck.
Can't find anything that'll fit.

Those two first ones are very badly relic'd and look ridiculous. The last one's a bit better...

Have you considered just blocking the Floyd?

Hey Curt, yeah thought about a block but a nice tele
bridge plate would look cool,I can't even find a schaller
for it,guess they don't fit,the hole is to big.(no pun)
I went to several websites and can't find anything.

This is probably a dumb question, but wouldn't a stock style tele bridge fit on there. You could get one that's for a humbucker and just yank out the entire Floyd and posts from the front and mount the 4 screws for the Tele bridge on top. In looking at guitar like yours here and a vintage reissue tele we have it looks like you could even do the ferrules and put the strings through the body just behind where the rout for the Floyd cavity is. Am I looking at it wrong?

Part of the cavity would show, there would be a gap.
About a quarter of an inch, that's exactly what I want
but can't get past the hole.I can't even find one a little
bit bigger.

Hey Curt, what pickups do y ou have in that Charvel?

Thanks!
Joel

Every time I see the Slime Green Socals I want one so bad but I just absolutely HATE the non-recessed floyd :bash: I don't care much for the relics either, just seems like I can bash and scrape my guitar off shit easily enough myself

Joel,
That So Cal has a '78 in the bridge and an SSL-5 in the neck.

Motor,
When Steve Vai was playing his slime green Charvel without a bridge rout he thought, "dang this woulod be cool if I had it routed under here for more pull back." $40 later he had a recessed trem. These are Charvels. They are hot rod guitars made to be hot rodded even more and personalized to your tastes. Heck, I'll rout a slime green So Cal for you. I've always wanted to learn to rout and I have a hammer and chisel and flat blade screwdriver so I can rout it for you EVH style.

Seriously though, my luthier charges $45 to put a rout under a Floyd. I had him rout a neck single coil into my '84 San Dimas about 15 years ago. I think it was $25 bucks and it only destroyed the original value of that guitar by a couple hundred bucks :D I'm never selling it though.
