Diamond amps

Super old thread.. but here goes my 2 cents!
Im running a Diamond Hammersmith and plan on running it forever. I can't put into words how fantastic it is for rock/heavier music. My other guitarist uses the Heretic, which is the same gain structure as a Hammersmith but with a 2B option, It's a more American flavor, mines more British... If I had to describe it... think JCM 800 - Splawn Nitro (KT88's),with a warmer fuller/richer tone.

Another extremely late thread revival post haha.

Could anyone compare the Heretic to other high gain amps? What's the gain channel like? Always kept an eye on these but you don't see many around (especially in Aus). Would be keen to hear them.

Wow I'm seeing a trend with threads that won't die!
Its definitely an amp that would be great to have in anyones arsenal. I play a Heretic now, opposite of a Bogner Uberschall and I could definitely EQ a fantastic tone with it just as easily as I could with the Diamond. However, the Diamond seems to be voiced darker.. almost thicker sounding. To where the uber has a natural higher mid range gnarl. The Heretic in alot of ways covers the other end of the spectrum with its own great gnarl to it.

They blend very well together in a mix, both live and in the studio. I've been able to eq the Heretic to a complimenting tone with every other amp I've played with actually( JSX,XXX II, 5150, dual rec rev g, H & K Warp tube head, uberschall(s), krank, JCM's, VHT). That may its best feature. The ability to find a great tone at just about any point in the mix.

Thats something that I can say the uber fails at at times. It does a spectrum of tones EXTEREMLY well, but its really geared towards sitting top of the mix rather than finding its place "in" the mix. The Diamond can push its way past the bass, vocals, other amps, keys,.. whatever, and be very prominent in front... or it can eq its self into the mix where needed and sound amazing.

Also, the clean tone is creepy good and I've been able to get some plexi-ish tones with it. Comes in handy for slower bluesy / plexi pushed with a boost tones.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0XU7l5986g pre pro/ scratch tracking / some lead tones. These are actually a mix of both a sm57 into Reaper, no effects, and a raw recording with a Zoom Q4. The part with the explorer and the 2nd Diamond head stacked on top the first (i think it has blue LEDs) was me testing a new 5881 loaded Heretic.. That was a mean sounding amp. Mine red LED Heretic is loaded with EL34's.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JxM6_ix6xs bluesier type of tune. I'm running the diamond on the far side of the stage. You can really hear the Uberschall more (and see it), but at 2:58 you can here the Diamonds clean channel boosted with a Bogner Harlow boost and its pretty noticeable. The was with a gopro hero 4. Not the greatest sound quality

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q-6Na8Uzbw Upbeat hard rock tune. Music starts at 1:45 and Diamond leads at 3:40ish and 2:30ish. Quality is same as above

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5X1WlSMttg cover of Thembones. Lead is all diamond with a Harlow Boost. The high part of the main riff is the diamond (to help point the two amps out). Quality and setting are the same as the previous two.

Live clips are less than 30 days old.

There is a Soldano- Diamond head from Jan2015 that I always wanted to try:

Not sure if it ever hit the market (?)

Yeah they did. I'm tempted to swing by there warehouse the next time I'm in Houston and try it... But I don't have 3,000 dollars burning a hole in my pocket. I've heard nothing but jaw dropping good things about it.

Thanks for the info prsplayer86! Can be a pain when there isn't much info on some amps and there isn't a way for someone like me to hear them at all. Cheers!
