I don't know. That's the first one I've seen with the metal toggles. I buy the small boxes just because I like the way they look. I like them although I've had two sound a little different, but I think it was more due to the tubes that were in them. All mine had plastic rockers, 6l6's, graphic eq and were +'s. All mine are meaner than rectos in the gain. I'm talking pre 100 rectos because that's all I ever owned. I can't compare them to anything newer. Rectos' got that bottom end thing going for them though. All my calibers were tight as teeth except DC's. That's not the same amp they are chunkier and smoother. I'd rather have the pissed off gain of the 50 caliber + myself. Just a matter of preference.

sounds hot rodded. I had one. It was great for santana type stuff not rockin like that.

Pulling the 750 slider down does wonders for getting rid of the Santana thing
It's a very brutal amp in its own right. I also play mine with an EMG 81.

50 calibers are highly underated amps, love em myself. meshuggah used em on the none ep. i still have my .22 combo as well. played through the dc-5, but never got to try out the dc-10.

I run the gain lower and boost with an SD-1 or Tubescreamer, and I run my EQ a little different. Mine's also the + model with 6L6s. I love that amp though! Nice clip!

The 22 and 50 calibers are serious high gain amps.
They are based on the Mark series.
And their cleans can be dialed in beautifully.
I still have my 22 I bought in 89

I still have my 22 combo from '86 (I think). Won it in a guitar contest that Marty Friedman was also in - I came in 1st, he came in 2nd!!! What a JOKE!(the contest, not Marty) Glad I got the amp, though. For low volume practicing, nothing I have is better. The clean and mild gain tones are great, as well. The graphic is a must. Without it, it's a very mediocre amp at best. My only complaint is the balance between the channels. Set for higher gain, the clean channel is too loud.

This one hummed a lot, some resistors were freaky soldered (standing "up") to the board (stock) and needed resoldering and replacement - and the miniature reverb tank sucks (I know that you guys won't use it all ).

Nice little amp nonetheless.

Since you can assign the GEQ to only the overdrive channel, you can sculpt two usable eq'd sounds, but getting the angriest overdrive, and a "clean" clean at the same time is difficult.

I saw this mod, so it looks like there's a "cure" for that, though

Thats like doubling the "volume" me thinks - if I should ever stumble over one (cheap) I will try to get it for satellite use only - I like my own stuff better than the Caliber/Mark-sounds. Additonally the combo-shell isn't really that "big" (my Einstein shell is a lot heavier, deeper and wider), so it sounds (as a 1x12") much better - I just came back from switching forth and back my Combo and this Caliber, flipping speakers and such.

It should be just another 1M log (audio) pot. Overall both will have 500k then, which brightens the sound a tiny bit though. But since the amp itself isn't already overly bright . . .

I figured a 1M, but want to be sure.
And I want to see if that is a 22 or 50 before I pull mine apart and find out it's a 50 and I can't add that mod.

Yep DC5 is thicker slightly looser smoother tone. The .50 is tighter ( thinner) and more pissed less picky about pickups if you want to grind out. Both cool amps.
