I'd like to smack the guy who says "I love the sound of speakers on the verge of destruction! It's awesome!" But I'm torn between whacking him for blowing up so many speakers and thanking him for selling so many for me.
I've had clients deliberately push, then tear the envelope with their 100w amps into two 65w M75's. They make it about 6 months before they die (on average). Needless to say, there's no warranty for abusing the speaker like that.
But they went right ahead and got two more 65w even though they knew they'd blow them up. Wouldn't even consider the 100w models.
But these clients have money to burn that I don't (and probably you don't either).
