I was hoping that was not a picture of #14131. It got sent to California for an overhaul.

  Are you worried that it's yours, and that a lowly 60w sounded better?? Its all preference man, I kept a 60w over an original HRG. Haven't had the pleasure of a DRG, but I imagine its similar to the sound when I slave my SRG into my Strategy 400. The 400 has EL34s combined with 6l6, sounds earth shattering.

These pics are probably 8 years ago. My friend had that simul one. Then he got a long chassis one which I think was a 60/100 watt version and that one didn't sound all that great. I remember my friend sold both IIC+'s and got a Mark IV and liked the IV more than either....go figure.

It's the one to the far right, that is set to 15 watts, no graphic EQ invoved , Channel 1 with the gain dimed.

Clip? I was fn with ya, like the collection..... No clip though...

What I don't get is, clearly Mesa knows exactly how they made the IIC+, why they don't make a reissue that's literally exactly the same thing..? The JP2C has all kinds of extra content that may or may not get in the way of it sounding the same, and people will always bitch that it's different. Do an identical replica re-issue & sell the shit out of them. Why would you not want to showcase the best (in the eyes of your customers) circuit you've ever built?

No clip can give you the experience of four amps waving the legs of your pants.

I never heard a tone out of a c+ I couldnt get out of my mark iv...so yes I dont give a shit about the new amp..its all hype imo about the old c+ being the greatest mesa..bullshit the mark iv is!

"AND IN THIS CORNER......Hailing from the 80's....the original Bringer of PAIN....MARK IIC+!!"

And the opponent....Not even born yet....the NEW C+!!!"

:boxer:

(my amp can beat up your amp)

Because the technology has moved on. You get multi channels with their own tone controls for instance. I bet there really isn't a huge demand for a 1 trick pony amp when you can have a Mark V that's state of the art.. They need to appeal to a wider market and not a few people stuck in the 80's..

Plus it's probably not economical in today's market to pay labor for a hand wired amp when you can get prefabed circuit boards populated with push on ribbon connectors and such.

To add to that, Mesa desperately doesn't want to be known as an oldies amp company, where their best amps were made years ago. They are constantly trying to move 'forward' with new designs. The jp2c is to my knowledge the first endorsed amp and one of the few 'reissue ' like amps they have done.

Mesa doesn't want to be fender or Marshall, who live off of reissues and only have moderate success with getting new designs to really take off.

Lots of posts here, didnt read all of them. I will say that the new JPIIC+ sounds pretty dam good to my ears.

Anyone agree or is it not in the ballpark of the original ?
Never owned either. Really like the tone out of the JP

Problem is, that one trick is a helluva trick. And try as they might, they haven't been able to duplicate that trick. Not with the Mark 3, not the 4, and not the 5. Sure, some guys will say "I can get that tone with my Mark _.." But most say that you can only get that tone with a 2C+. Hopefully they can get there or very close with this new amp. I'm rooting for them. Its kinda like the SLO...its one trick(some say) but it's a helluva trick. Others try to duplicate it, but there's only the SLO.
