I’m new to pretty much everything digital. I’ve never owned a modelling anything, nor have I used any programs or plugins. Only ever been a guitar-pedals-amp-cab kinda guy, so please bare with me if I’m not understanding seemingly simple stuff here...
Due to a change in living situation, I’m not going to be able to enjoy my Mesa Dual Rec and 4x12 at any real volume anymore. I will be potentially gigging occasionally, however, so I’m looking for a product that meets a variety of needs. What I’m looking for is something that is:
A. A reactive load attenuator. When gigging, I still want to use my cab onstage as usual, but would like the ability to have my amp pushed to where it sounds best, but be able to attenuate to an appropriate volume. I’ve heard reactive is better over resistive for tone and feel, so yeah..
B. Headphone compatibility. The ability to play completely silently, with my amp set up the same as when playing live/with attenuator and cab. I’m assuming this will require a cab sim to sound right, so something with a Mesa traditional recto 4x12, or the ability to load that sim after the fact, is important.
C. Recording capabilities. This is less important to me than a&b, but the ability to start doing quality home guitar recordings is attractive.
I’m having trouble understanding exactly what each unit on the market does (Have browsed two notes, Rivera, UA OX etc). What I’m having trouble finding is something that will do BOTH the regular attenuation I’m after, as well as have the headphone out to use the amp silently with a cab sim.
Anybody have any recommendations? Not too concerned with cost, I want to do it right the first time on this one ?
