Does this count as a Rack Rig?

I just received the rack ears to rack my Redseven Amp Central EVO reactive load. So filled out one side of my desk rack. With all the Rack posts lately, makes me GAS for doing one, but in the end, my studio desk is easy to reach and convenient so just went with that.

My studio desk has two 8u rack spaces. On one side I have a Synergy rig with KSR Power amp and the Redseven EVO. The other side has the Apollo X6 audio interface and the AxeFx3. All my amps as well as the Synergy/KSR Power Amp go through the RedSeven -> 2 EQ pedals (Left and Right) -> Eventide H90 -> AxeFx3 for time based effects -> Computer/StudioMonitors

Pedalboard below the desk for choosing various OD's going into the amp switcher

Easy to play, easy to record, no cable changes. Just plug and play. Anyway, here's the setup:

All these Synergy posts are making me want to sell my heads and go that way.

Over the last 4-5 months, I've played the Synergy/KSR power amp 90% of the time. Mostly the Uberschall module, but switch them up too. It's the sound I've wanted. I contacted a local store and am going to put 6 amps on consignment I love it so much.

I keep hearing things like this, and maybe that's the way for me, too.

I'll admit it took me a long time to come to feeling this way. I LOVE full size amps and it's hard to look at this little module that I paid $275 (I bought them all used) and think I like it better than my full sized amp.

But the entry is fairly cheap to get a used SYN1 or SYN2 and a module of choice and plug into the return of one your amps and see if you like it. Buy used and if you don't like it you should be able to get your money back.

Could you basically do without the RedSeven unit when using the Synergy/KSR rig since the KSR has it's own load (no speaker neccessary) for silent operation?

Ohhhhhh a T.O.K. !!! Sweet !!!

I'd say the OP is bona fide rack rig.

I'm doing a combo rack/floor thing.

Now that my backorded second Mesa 2x12 finally shipped, and is due to be delivered Monday, 2-Feb....

rig #1

Mesa JP-2C rack head, Boss GX-100 for effects/channel switching; 4CM; and 2 x Mesa 2x12 compact cabs with V30s

rig #2

ISP Theta Pro Michael Sweet or ISP Theta MSX stereo out; into my Engl E850/100 dual, rack, power amp; into the Mesa 2x12 cabs.

ISP Theta Pro and MSX are like preamp and effect racks in a floorboard format.

I'm also going to use these two Mesa cabs with my Diezel VHX.

I've been using the one cab for what seems like forever.

I also use my pair of Engl PRO E212VHB cabs with the E850, but it's a PITA since they're usually dedicated to my Engl Artist Edition 100, and it gets like tetris with cabs and cables up in here because I'm out of space, and have to move shit around to do it.

I think so, yes. But I have not tried it. I have it on a switcher with other amps. So the Synergy/KSR acts as 1 selection on the amp switcher where they all feed into the RedSeven reactive load.

That’s some cool rigs. Seems like everyone who has posted about the Theta has good things to say.

They sound very good; even the cab sims work well, but sound better IMO used as a preamp/effects without the cab emulation.

The downside:

It's tedious to program; reminds me of my ADA MP-2 (which I still have), which was also very tedious to program.

It's also not software upgradable, nor does it have a USB connection or software editor.

Expensive because it appears limited vs modelers of the same era, but I think that's not a fair comparison. It never pretended to be a digital modeler, it's solid state preamp and effects with digital control; it's also Made in USA which drives up the costs. They're very well-built, heavy, especially the larger Theta Pro.

I'd like to see a more modern version, that's software upgradable over USB, with a software editor but I doubt we will. If they made it, I'd buy it...but not many others would IMO.

There was a rack predecessor, before the Theta Pro floor units; maybe if rack gains traction again ISP would consider a new rack unit? At least the preamp, gain, EQ, cab emulation, with an effects loop in a 1U rack format - I'd buy it - if it has software updates and software editor over USB.

Their latest Michael Sweet unit is just the preamp, no patch storage, in a pedal format which doesn't interest me at all.

Do you use a mixer with the Lexicon MPX-1?

I pretty much have the top rack also, lol. Syn 2, Intellifex Online, and MPX-1.
At one time I did run a Samson SM10 mixer when I built my W/D/W rig but this rig is much smaller so I don't now. I just mix internaly in each unit.

Don't you get degradation from the MPX-1 running straight through it?
