Sorry Pete, I know that sucks. They are family members, sometimes the best family member (they only speak with thier eyes ;) ) At least yours knew she was loved, not all of them do, this is the greatest thing in life you can give them. mojo sent bro - Jim

Sorry for you loss...it's one of the worst things to deal with. I had to put my dog down a few years ago so its fresh in my mind the pain that comes with it. Stay strong.

"I STOOD BESIDE YOUR BED LAST NIGHT"
--Author unknown

I stood beside your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep. I whined to you so softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me." You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ... In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning And say "goodnight, and blessed be, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.
man

Sorry to hear it man. Losing a long time pet is like losing a family member. My oldest dog (14) is definitely getting up there in age. She had a seizure a few months ago and I thought that was it, but she's still holding on. Her back legs aren't too good, so we bought her one of those wheel chair dealies. :) It's gonna be a sad day when she's gone. We got her the same day my other dog died from complications after being hit by a car.

Dogs are great...unconditional love no matter what!

Mojo sent. I know when I lost my dog, Peanut, I cried. I cried for about an hour. He passed away at 10 in his sleep.

Rupe, that little thing you posted just really made me think of my dogs! thanks for posting this even though it brings back painful memories but all the good ones too!

Peace

I never understood stuff like this until I got a dog myself recently... I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved pet...

Steve

Sorry for your loss. I have always had a dog growing up and been there a few times. I have a Golden Retarded and he spends the summer fishing with me on the boat. As dumb as he is sometimes, he will sit in the truck for hours waiting to go fishing when he sees the boat hooked up. He is lazy and wont fetch more than once but listens better than any dog i ever had. I will really be upset when he is gone. That means i will have to start taking the kids fishing again ;) its amazing how attached we get to them. Again, Sorry for your loss.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Wow...what a sad story Pete! Dogs truly become part of the family, and I'm very sorry for your loss.

BTW, my yellow lab just turned 10 and I've been thinking about getting a cairn terrier after she passes (she's in great health...minus the achy joints).

damn Pete, my condolences to you and your family. This pain will pass, then you will remember all the good times you had.

that first family dog is a monster loss when it goes.

sorry bro bro

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the kind words. My wife is taking this harder than I am, since this was 'our baby' and she never had pets before me. I grew up out in the country, so we always had a dog or two or outdoor cats, etc. Not to say that it is easy for me, but I know the routine. Anyways, thanks again guys. :)
