I love this song . Don does a kick ass version of being Maynard . Really cool grungy song
What did George use here gear wise

I could see the rawness of the guitar being early Tool. though I don't love the tone, it is like they went for what I go for too far. The gain is way too clean and clear. I can see the grunge you speak of. And I also thinkk it has kind of an indie sound. I really like it.

This is exactly why i like them.

I think of beatles (post psychotropic$)>zeppelin>pinkfoyd>tool
Me too, but I can see why others don’t. A lifetime of listening to non-pop music and you get used to it.

I can see the Tool resemblance in that song although as mentioned the drums would have been…less straightforward at least.

I really love great drummering and that’s a big reason I like Tool.

It’s cool fir what it is

I dig that cd. I remember reading he was using a Bogner XTC during that time?

I saw them in NY state in Poughkeepsie on this tour in 1995.
George had an fx rack that he couldn’t get working properly.

He had an Ecstasy, a Fender Tone-Master, a pre #100 serial Rectifier and a Peavey Classic, the four heads on top of two old Marshall cabs.

Only the Rectifier was (turned on) used all night and he had the worst tone I’ve ever heard from him.

I’ve seen George 8 times live and this was terrible, he knew it too. Most of the night, he was turned around facing his cabinets, tweaking the Mesa, and swearing at his tech about his effects not working.

He was stomping and kicking his midi foot switch, reaching down, turning it on, turning it off, taking a break during the whole verse and chorus of a song and shutting his whole system down and re-powering it. he was so pissed.🤣

Anyways, he played without any effects all night and basically just went through the motions to finish each song.

I saw it all standing 3 feet away from him.

Doesn’t sound like Tool and the singer sounds like he’s using a James Tyler headstock for a mic.
