I'd get one in a second if I could play it like that!!!

I got one but yeah.. I ain't Doug thats for damn sure. :D

How do you like yours ?

Been thinking of trying one !
One of my all time favorite amps. I actually sold my first one for a 5153 only to regret it. I now have the VM for all my Marshall needs and a 5150II for more modern needs. The VM when boosted kills IMO. Mine needs new tubes in the worst way though. Lots of noise. Prolly a preamp tube. Here are a few low volume clips of mine

I think your clips of that amp sound great, but I don't like his tone on that at all.

Thanks for the super kind words. I think Doug uses some sort of Octave effect that might make or break his tone for some people.

No octave effect, but the Rocket Fuel OD pedal most likely. He uses that a lot these days in front of his amps and i heard that pedal has quite a lot of low end.

I A/Bd that pedal to my BDD. I found that when I set them both to the settings that I liked best they sounded identicle.

Interesting! I guess it's probably just the way he sets the pedal as well as the amp. I noticed he's been getting that kinda tone through everything he plays these days, with that super fat low end. I still prefer his tone from the Dio live DVD as it was much more focused and tighter!

That tone was absolutely killer. Love his Strat tone!!!! I still think he is using some sort of octavier pedal. It's the only way I can think of that a player can get that "thing" I hear in his tone.

Tough crowd. Here is Robin Trower using the VM

no muddy low end there.
preamp aint as cranked with trower like with aldridge...that cranked preamp makes it sound floppy in the low register

I must be deaf too, I loved that tone!

Bro you know how it is... Everyone has different taste. I love the boosted Marshall tone best and I think Doug did a fantastic job. His tone is more bassy and round compared to what I go for. I just wish I had vibrato like that. Doug is a bad bad man!
