I don't have time for theory, i'm too busy playing guitar. :m9:

Well, I don't play much guitar. That's no fun. I just look at my guitar neck and a theory book and get out an abacus, slide rule and protractor.

i don't get a thread that tries to pick apart some of the best tone in music.
Read for comprehension much?

He is still trying to figure out that impedence mis-match thing with marshalls.....................

I just saw them too and i have to say i left with a different opinion. I thought Coverdale did a killer job as did Aldrich. I also went in thinking Reb was the red headed step child but left with a lot of respect for his contribution. All around it was a really great show. Aldrich was on that night for sure.

I just spit up my diet coke all over my Mac. I can actually picture you with the Charvel and a protractor working on the Harmonic Minor and Phrygian/Dorian minors while trying hard to always hit the two special notes that takes you out of pentatonic. Even then those two notes have weird mids with that Splawn of yours!

Back to Doug Aldrich, he has good tone, he is a good player, lots of them out there. He has made his living playing music which is something I used to dream about. Now I just enjoy playing, that road life would kill me.....

I think he is a good player, but very ordinary/ safe. Don't care for his tones, that Furman midboost thing is nothing I cared for even back in the day.

More than likely he gets the spotlight because he's from Cali, has blond hair and wears bell bottoms. :)

Zakk Wylde meets 2 of those criteria points.
He's got a funny accent and doesn't shower. Not sure he would fit in WS. :)

I thought "is this love" was overdubed and done by Vandenburg, not Sykes?
Vandenburg did the "Here I go Again" solo...Sykes did "Is This Love".

White Snake rehearsed 50 feet from the shop the past two weeks and I thought they sounded great. Doug and David were both really nice guys also. dougs tone was killer

I missed that!! Damn. Hopefully I'll be able to at least pick up some capacitors when I'm there :)

I've got no problems with Doug (or Reb for that matter). Both players who are good/great and could stomp me.

However... the new WS was pretty disappointing to me. And hey... for me, anything since the Sykes days has been a disappointment. Sykes is a MONSTER and has something (both songwriting AND playing-wise) that neither of those guys have to my ears.

I won't dog them... cause they kick ass. But when I want to be impressed/enthralled/whatever by a WS song/performance... I'll look for stuff from Sykes' tenure.
