I'm exploring different drive/boost pedals into a dirty amp. I have a few that only work with a clean amp. Boss SD-1 or Source Audio EQ2 sound better than a Klon clone, Zendrive clone, and the SS-3 in my Dual Drive ; they all sound good/better into a clean amp...but that's not what I'm looking for.
I got in on the second run of Griffin Analog TOK, and happy I did. Because while waiting, I found an MXR Duke of Tone, that has a 3-way mini-toggle for OD, Boost, Dist.
well, all three of those settings sound good, but I was surprised that I liked the Dist setting best. It doesn't color the amp, justt boosts the volume, and adds a smooth, glassy/liquid sound and sustain to my amps sound..
I kept turning the pedal on/off, and it sounds like my amp + the smooth sustain.
The MXR Duke of Tone is based on the Analogman Prince of Tone.
My incoming Griffin Analog Tone of Kings, is a dual-circuit PoT, like the KoT. Looking forward to it even more now.
Next, getting a filter to work with a dirty amp and guitar volume....
