I'm not high brow on this scene at all Ed... As per the OPs post, they stated no booze or drugs. In this case, don't bring it to the sesh or the jam - do it on yer own time. Yeah it's common sense but that has nothing to do with the tangents here.
Lets get this out of the way first, I work with lots of folks that smoke weed, I don't. And as long as they function I certainly don't care what they do.
I've had my share of substance abuse when I was young, dumb and full of cum and know very well what drugs can and will do. But that does not change the fact that I find it funny when my peers all of a sudden act like they're ready for the retirement home.

I smoked my fair share of weed, drank, took lsd, ate shrooms, tried some pills but never did coke, heroin, meth but what I did do...... all lead nowhere. I don't see guys who don't want a drug addict in their band and people on this forum agreeing with that idea as being a " knitting circle or "being ready for the retirement home" just because at one time they either did the same or idolized guys who did and now see it as a detriment.
People grow and move on.... plain and simple.

I love how people refer to drug addition as a "disease". I suppose it can by definition be one, it's just that the last time I looked, no one purposely chose to get cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, etc. Something that's self-inflicted really shouldn't be termed the same as something that's most definitely not.

I don't idolize the lifestyle. I like the music. Big difference. Never did drugs, never will. Don't want my family around that, so I choose carefully those who I let through my door.

I was setting up to play a show over the weekend and about 10 minutes before we began the cops rolled in and took my singer away. He's gone till I don't know when. I just had to cancel about 20 shows due to his stupid heroin addiction. That just cost me a few grand! and he owes me around $400!
He's the best singer I have EVER played with.

It's all relative man... I can't say I've seen weed really screw up any of my guys that I used to jam/play with, it was a break time thing, a spliff here and there, I was in as well... This ain't hard drugs, as per the OPs concern.
