Has anyone tried this or a/b this with any of the other echo plex preamp?

I was wondering about this too , think they just released them so probs not a lot of people tried them , haven't seen any in the shops yet .

Just picked one up today along with a TC Electronic Spark Mini boost. Will give them a whirl this weekend. From just playing both in the store both had a nice warmth to them. The Echoplex adds just a slight touch of hair whereas the Spark adds much more. The Echoplex adds about 11+db of gain and the Spark about 20+ db of gain. One will be for my gigging board the other for the practice board.

I returned mine. It really didn't do much to fatten tone more than any regular boost. I got the same results just cranking my amp gain a little. I had more tonal change with the EP Booster and the Belle Epoch.

Try a ClinchFX EP+ Custom (Echoplex always on w/ footswitcable boost up to 18 db).

Hmmmm. That looks interesting too. What's the main difference between it and the Dunlop unit? Just the amount of db's?

It just has a really good replication of EP tone. Cleans up any loose bass and adds sparkle up top, while filtering past 15k. The boost is really transparent.

I'm interested in this pedal also. I really want to hear a comparison to the Xotic EP Booster. I really like how the Xotic seems to fatten the tone while adding gain.

I have a Badgerplex Pre Plural that I keep on all the time for both clean and dirty tones...I have it set so that it really doesn't add any gain, it just makes everything sound a little bigger. You don't even notice that it's on, until it's not.

If the Dunlop is similar, I'd call it a winner.

I think we're looking for for the same thing for the same reason I bet. ;)

The badgerplex sounds really interesting as well. Haven't had a chance to try my Dunlop yet. Will tomorrow.

The Badgerplex can definitely add gain, I just don't set it up that way.

I'm really digging the Dunlop. Just seems to add a nice edge to the tone.I actually haven't been using any OD with my plexi since I've had it.

I've heard other reviews like this. The thing is I don't want more edge. This indicates it increases the highs, something I'm not looking for and the reason I like the Xotic.

It sounds nothing like the EP, and in my experience the added lows/mids of the EP are meaningless in a band mix. It sounds great at home though. The Dunlop seems more mid-focused rather than boomy, adds a certain stuffy quality that sounds good. But, for me it didn't change enough to bother keeping around.

Thanks for the comparison view. Must be why I like the Xotic with my old 800.

Thats not what I meant about edge. It just kicks up the drive a little. My plexi at times seemed overly bright and with the Dunlop it does not. So I would say it doesn't add high end

I got a chance to try the Dunlop at low volume. I really liked it. Just adds a touch of gain and warmth. No brightness or high end at all. I like what it does to my clean sound as well. Cool for a leave it on all the time pedal. I am going to order the Clinch Fx EP as well to try out.

Hey Todd, have you tried the Xotic yet?
