I bought a ton of picks recently and I got a few of these. I do like them, but I have been hooked on the Jazz III and Jazz Tortex much more. This was after using standard Tortex for years and years...
In 2009 Jimmy Dunlop pulled an ultex sharp out of his pocket handed it to me and said, this pick is gonna change your life. I laughed it off and held onto it.
Funny enough three years later, still playing them and just ordered the Bass versions for my new project.
Killer material, nice wearing nice sharp point. Good pick attack.
Damn. I need to order a bag. I used Tortex for four years. Now its 3 Redbear Classic II Plus and they last me months and months. Not sure what to do now Twenty bucks times 3 at 60 bucks for a year or how much are the Tortex again? I remember they were good for two weeks each. Maybe a week. 52 weeks times .50 each The Redbear have tone. Tone is not in the fingers. Its in the pick. Don't you guys know that. Ask Eddie VH
I used tortex for years, but they just wore out so quickly. The ultex wears much slower for me, and they have a really cool snap to them that tortex doesn't.
Yep. Was using a variety of the yellow Ultex and Ultex Sharps. Since I bought a few packs of the lil' red J3's, it's all I've been using, kind of addicted to them in a strange way. Gave almost all my other picks to my buddy who's just starting out. Really love the Jazz IIIs and they have "done things" to my playing for the better.
When Ronnie Montrose passed I was on his site ordering some live DVD's. They also had autographed Dunlop picks he used, so I ordered those as well.
It turned out the picks were the Ultex. I liked them (Fender Heavy user) and ordered up the 1.0 and 1.14.
Love them both. more precise, for my sloppy right hand
