Duty to Retreat

Until an aggressive stray wanders into your hood and starts sizing up your kids playing in the front yard for lunch. Easy access to guns is a necessity for rural life.

I would disagree, but not to discount your feelings towards it.

So what did you think I meant when I said “outside of being mugged on the street it doesn’t hinder much”?
So what other fucking scenario is even possible Dan ? Explain to me where besides your house or on the street your life could be threatened.

And no matter where the fuck it is, if you are in danger of being killed, denying you the right to respond with deadly force is not only retarded, it's cruel and sadistic.

Let me try again, i stated that the only instance that mass laws hinder gun use is being attacked on the street by someone without a gun. What is “left” about that? Just because you repeat it louder and angrier doesn’t change that you are saying the same damn thing as me

Oh, okay. I don't want to bring up your kids again Dan  ,so let's say, some random kids you are watching play in your front yard and a stray pitbull attacks them. What then ? You don't need a gun. You can just spring the 20 yards to the kids and kick the dog and the kids will be just fine right ? Holy fuck dude.

That possible scenario is not enough for me to believe we should change our state gun laws.

There is a level 3 sex offender that lives just a few doors down from me, and believe me I will end his life if he touches my girls. But that is between me and him, not a reason to change an entire state’s gun laws

This is what you just said, just now.
"So what did you think I meant when I said “outside of being mugged on the street it doesn’t hinder much”?"
Respond to that.

And I am not angry, you are just either retarded or willfully ignorant. What is left about it is that only a liberal would believe that denying someone the right to defend themselves by meeting deadly force with deadly force was a good thing. It's pretty fucking clearly a leftist idea, gun control.

What if Mr Level 3 can kick your ass Dan.

The reason to change the gun law is because it is ridiculous and only seeks to punish people who are being threatened with death while doing absolutely zero to any criminals except letting them know they can kill people and not get shot as long as they aren't using a gun to do it.

Not to mention the fact that you just told VB he was wrong about it. He never suggested you lobby to change your state's laws. He said in his rural area it is a necessity. To which you disagreed.

You are leaving out something very important. If someone can “meet me with deadly force” without having a gun on them, then I can also meet them with deadly force without a gun.

Mass doesn’t say you straight up can’t shoot someone without a gun. Just that if you pull yours out, you have to give them a second to stop trying to kill you. That’s all. If they take one more step forward it’s on them

Why it gotta be a pitbull though?

I've had a half dozen stray pit mixes in my yard. The german shepherds are the ones that thought about eating me or barking at me taking out my trash in the pitch black. Damn glad I had a rifle within easy reach. Anyway, since I was building at the time and couldn't watch my own back, I got a couple dogs to CYA in case I didn't have a gun handy. Reality said I wasn't climbing around on scaffold 25 feet in the air packing a pistol so the dogs were helpful. TX and stray animals is a serious problem. I was down at the Blanco one night and caught a dog staring at me, obviously assessing the risk factor of taking a bite. I won't go into my back woods without a weapon and boots.

Say that back to yourself. See how fucking stupid that sounds? Do you know the 21 foot rule. What it means is that a person with a knife can travel 21' and stab you before you can get your gun unholstered and stop them. But you think we should give the dude a second and see if he changes his mind? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I got nothing against Pits. My last dog was a 75 lb Brindle Staffy. He didn't know he was a vicious killer. My 16 year old Golden regularly punked him out.

In your fantasy you would to already have your gun pulled and aiming at him anyways.

Next Dan is going to explain to us how just racking a pump shotgun is good enough to deter a criminal.

Fantasy ? You really are an asshole Dan. I don't have fantasies. And you can bet your ass the last thing I want to do is shoot someone. Anyone. No matter how it goes down it is going to fuck your life up. Shooting someone is ALWAYS a last resort. The odds of me ever pulling a gun on a single unarmed dude are zero. I like to fight Dan. And I'm good at it.

When you've been shot at or seen your friends murdered then you can talk like you have some authority. Until then you should shut the fuck up.

So how is you saying “shooting someone is the last resort” different than a state saying “give someone a chance to stand down before you shoot them”. ? Seems like you just don’t like a state telling you what you can and cannot do

They sound the same to me, you
They probably sound the same to you because you have zero training and zero ideas about what your rights and responsibilities are when carrying a firearm for self defense, zero experience with deadly force encounters, zero clue about the OODA loop , the importance of situational awareness or the basic rules of firearm safety. Most likely you only possess a very basic knowledge of how a firearm even works.

The difference is simply that if I pull a gun I have already made the decision that I am out of options and this is the last resort. You don't pull a gun out to scare someone Dan. That is called brandishing and it is illegal in most states. If you can see that I am armed I have already exhausted all my options, including my first choice which is always to remove myself from the situation safely and quickly. You guys have all these ideas about what carrying a gun is and why people do it. Maybe you should educate yourself a little before passing judgement. There's a name for people who pull a gun out and point it at someone and say freeze. It's cop. I am not a cop. I am not going to pull a gun and point it at you in an effort to make you stand down. If I pull a gun on you, you are armed with a weapon that I think will kill me, I have no chance of removing myself from the situation safely and have already run my loop and decided that my only way out is to stop you as quickly as possible.

I know your TV told you that all gun guys are nuts and think they're Rambo, and to be fair there is no shortage of those dumbasses, it comes along with the territory. The fact is though I have thousands of hours of training with professionals, LEO and military and take very deadly serious my decision to arm myself for defense of myself and my family. And I have good reason to. The thing that I don't do is carry a gun because I am afraid to fight or because I think it makes me a badass. And the very last thing I would do to extricate myself from a volatile situation is shoot someone. If I shoot someone my life or someone else's life was genuinely threatened.

Most people don't realize that carrying a gun is a total pain in the ass more than anything. It's like buying a four wheel drive. More maintenance hassles, more per mile costs. It's just when you have 3 feet of water over the bridge and you can shift into 4 wheel and ford it home while everyone else is stuck waiting in their Camry's for the water to subside does it become all worth it.
