Alot of marketing BS with Edward(RIP)and Matt bruck,Edward was a modded Marshall guy also he loved the Soldano SLO(loved the SLO design-circuit)which they tried to copy and in my opinion fell way short. It’s all about the marketing and the money. In the late 70s Edward didn’t want Seymour Duncan to put out a special Van Halen pickup same with Grover Jackson putting out strip guitars because Edward said it wasn’t about the money now look it was all about the money with Edward and the gear he put out. Edward wanted Mike Soldano to make a special signature Eddie Van Halen Soldano SLO but Mike couldn’t mass produce SLO with the quality Mike puts into a SLO parts in general, Mike wouldn’t use lower quality parts in the SLO plus the price that a SLO sells for.

There are two different Greenbacks the RI and the Heritage...... These are different things and different speakers.

Both completely different speakers and both Greenbacks.

They are referring to the Heritage Greenback and not the RI here.

Essentially the vid pretty much said the EVH speakers are relabeled Heritage Greenbacks as the Heritage Greenback has been noted to be the essential framework/foundation behind the speaker.

I really don't care. I just dropped in to make a joke and move on.

The way I see it, Ed’s ears were shot by this time and the tuning of the III amps was accentuated to fill in deficiencies in his hearing.

Never liked the III, never even liked the II. The II has a distinct nasal quality to it. The OG 5150 is the king of the hill in that vein.

I mean there will always be marketing BS but for the most part I do believe Eddie had a lot of say in how this thing was made, designed and overall quality and standards, he wasn't going to sacrifice on that and the quality and standards mattered to him and were important.

And yeah money but IMO it wasn't all about the money for Eddie.

-There are a couple things EVH sells that very well should cost more given the quality and level of higher standards they go by for the money it cost. The EVH Speakers ain't cheap but they are pretty affordable for what it is relative to the Heritage especially when you buy it in the 412 Cab and the cab is a fantastic price relative to a lot of other options in the market. No upcharge.

-The 412 and 212 cabs themselves are made of Pine/Birch and EVH could charge more as this usually cost more to make but they don't. Amazing quality and super resonant and sturdy and great speakers too. No upcharge.

-The cases for the guitars cost the same or a bit less than an SKB66-PRO and is essentially an SKB66-PRO for the same or lower cost. No upcharge.

He didn't want to fuck people over getting his gear and he really wanted to make it as affordable as he could without sacrificing quality/standards and thats something he doesn't get a lot of credit for or is overlooked. This was the philosophy behind Eddies way.

In fact not only is there no upcharge but EVH sort of subsidizes the guitars/amps because Eddie wanted people to have access to quality gear and provide as much accessibility to it so normal dudes could also have a chance at playing quality gear like his.

In this sense Eddie was a champ and it wasn't all about the money and he really wanted to provide an amazing product to customers, fans and players and that's what Eddie was all about IMO.

Just wanted to say that about Eddie because IMO well he really did sacrifice a lot and put in a lot of work so people could have good gear.

He never compromised on standards and quality and always wanted to make sure people could afford it too. He understood not everyone is rich or well off and IMO he really wanted the average folk to be able to have good gear like him from fans to players in general. That's real.

People don't get that side or understand it but it's true and well a lot of the EVH stuff should by all means cost more as said but doesn't because that's how he wanted it and it actually cost less vs a lot of other stuff for the price and quality one gets from EVH products IMO/IME.

I feel exactly the opposite, never cared for the sound of Peavey transformers, still don't.

I mean in this sense for lack of a better word the older ones have a certain character and not as refined as the lll.

I can see why some would prefer one over the other and they definitely offer different things and different tones especially the lll compared to the previous iterations.
