If you continue to work with it I think you will be quite happy at low volume playing. It has to be as good as the Eleven plugin and it works and feels pretty good at low volumes. I never thought it had the feel as good as the Axe FX but it did fine and much better than Amplitube or Guitar Rig. I thought Revalver III by Peavey was better however.

Don't give up and I am betting it will work for your needs. And if you play live with tube amps you get something with this you would not get with the Axe FX and that is a pro tools interface which is pretty cool and fun to record with.

Keep us updated and good luck!!

Yeah I just got a set of M Audio Studiophile BX8a Deluxe monitors. I needed a really good set for mixing anyway and these sound pretty good with the Eleven. Ive spent some more time with it and I had some tones going on that were good tonally and feel wise enough to use and I was having fun playing. If they recorded well and I can use my M13 with it for more effects I'll hang on to it for awhile. Honestly I dont think I'll ever be completely satified with a digital preamp but this works and the feel of it's better than what I've used before with plug ins and Line 6. I may try an Axe sometime when the right deal comes along since they say the feel of that one is good too.

My biggest gripe with it is right now the amp choices and effects are very limited.

After reading all the comments, my guess is it's still a matter of 'you get what you pay for', I'm sure the eleven 'dials in' like anything else once you get comfy, but I'm guessing, it doesnt have the range of the Axe, and prolly isnt meant to...

I WOULD like a 'sewer tunnel' download for the Axe, tho, a real big reverb with S#!tStank tone....

That spreadsheet is great, thanks for posting. That alone might make my decision for me.

Can you post any recorded clips? I never fully trust manufacturers clips since you don't know what's been done to sweeten them up.

This I agree with completely. The thing that drew me towards the Eleven was it wasnt as deep pararmeter wise and much easier to navigate than the Axe. Some like that tweakbilty and are willing to pay for it. I dont have the pateince for it.

Like I said I wish there were more models and maybe more are to come maybe not but whats there are the standards and I can used it for what I need it for.

I just posted the follow ups and ate crow due to I didnt want people to think it really sucks due to my errors.

Overall my opinion of the peice is if you like it's features, want fairly dencent tones with dencent feel and want a copy of PT LE than you can make it work well for you and it's worth the price. Are there better options available? I'm sure there are but this works better for me in the feel department than any other digital piece I've tried so far in the price I wanted to spend.

funny you should mentions line 6. no one really cares about them now for amplifier modeling - what happened? they used to be alright for whatever. i also thought about a pod unit for a practice setup.

is it just that line 6 is lower end or the quality isnt the same or is it something tonal?

maybe its because its not considered an 'exclusive' brand anymore.

Ughhh downsizing.... No Way

Just kidding, I'll probably (sooner rather than later go Axe-fx)-- BUT don't panic-- NOT an "instead of" scenario. The Big rig (mine anyway) vs the Axe Ultra (which I have used, and think is a fantastic tool), just doesn't replace the big rig in terms of tones, for me-- PERIOD. Modeling is really close nowadays-- to some things-- much more/less than others, where with the Big rig, there is no "close enough" scenario. It is the real stuff that everyone who's modeling fx is trying to model. In terms of tones (I couldn't be happier). The Axe rig will be to address curbing the costs of doing fly dates.

I haven't seen anything important/worthy that the eleven rack can do and a line6 can't. The axefx is on a completely different level, and it's not more complicated to tweak. You can get great tones just turning the gain, master volume, bass, mid, treble and presence.

I would say that right now the axefx is already surpassing most tube rigs in many aspects.

I've spent a week with ER and the more I use it the more I like it. I just use it for recording, so can't say much about it as a live piece. One thing that helps it in the mix here is running a Auteur pre or UA LA-610 between it and the guitar. Surprisingly, the Auteur seemed to work better than the 610. I have Pod Farm, Chrome Tone, Guitar Rig, Nigel from UA and Sansamp. This is much better than all of them and very easy to use. Never played Axe-fx, but from a standpoint of sounding good in the mix and integrating well with Pro Tools, so far I'm pretty happy with it. I also had my 002R rebuilt by Black Lion Audio, and given the big improvement that made in my Pro Tools sound, some of the tone I'm getting through the monitor speakers is probably getting a bump from the rebuild. It probably won't be for everyone, but Digidesign has been pretty decent about upgrading Pro Tools and adding features. I expect there will be some patches released in the next few months that will add to the functionality of this. And I also expect they will sell a pile of these, prompting a lot of third party rig settings. Some of the ones that ship with it can be tweaked up nicely. Some should just be deleted. Some of the chorus and phasing stuff is pretty nice as is.
