Just joined the ENGL owners club! I still remember when the Invader first dropped (around in 2008?) I was instantly obsessed. So happy with this beast right now! What’s your favorite ENGL amp?

Oh, and here’s a short sound sample below, running through a dual Mesa Oversized 4x12 cab setup. 👇

congrats on the 150! I have a 100 that I love. I use it with an SD-1 unity gain boost on ch 3. I like to scoop ch 2 and heavily scoop ch 4. I have been very busy as of late, but the Engl is always in the back of my mind. I have been going through a lot of guitar modding/experimentation/other amp deals. I love the Invader with an EMG 57. I have yet to mess with the 66, but mine splits coils, so that will be fun in ch 1, i imagine. Especially with shit like the Roland dimension d, delay, blah blah.

When it comes to ENGL amps, everyone talks about Powerball and Savage… but what about the Invader?
Whether you’re tuning from Standard E to drop A or even lower with extended-range guitars, this amp delivers massive, in-your-face sound without getting muddy. Let's take a listen! 👇

If I had to pick only one I think it should be the Powerball II. The clean is to die for. But If I was in for gain only I would pick either The Artist 100 or the Fireball 100...for different reasons...For more Marshall type of amp I would go with the Artist 100 or the Retro Tube 100. If you want a plethora of sounds I would go with the Invader II with the Wizard module

The Powerball is a bit too fizzy to my ears. What I really liked next to the Invader was the Special Edition Founders Edition and the Retro Tube! Both are killer machines as well for sure.

I can understand that...the thing with the Powerball II is that it can't be dialed in with the eyes....you need to dial it in with the ears...and forget everything you already know about dialing in a good sound...it's very unconventional in it's way of getting a great tone...took me long enough finding the perfect tones with it...at the start I was so unhappy and regretted even buying it...but once I get to know how it really works, it was euphoria
