I can't afford to see him anymore.
With all due respect, I feel that comment is silly after taking a quick glance at the gear in your signature.

I got most of my gear several years ago. in 2009' I was layed-off and sold about 50K of gear and other things just to stay afloat. I found work in 2010', but now make 1/3 of my previous salary. The days of 100K+ salaries plus bonuses won't be back for a long time in my industry. I have a house, four kids (one in college), my wife stays home with the kids and we live in Southern California. At my current income, we are in the "poverty" bracket. I do amp repair on the side to supplement my income. So just about any concert over $50.00 a ticket is out of reach for me these days. Most venues also charge for parking around here, so add another $13.00 per car. Drinks and food? Forget about it...
edit.

TGP has issues as do all forums, but when it comes to selling gear, they're close to the top.

I go there just to learn of gear I've never heard of before.....

I can't afford anyone anymore. No one really comes here so I'd have to add a tank of gas onto whatever the ticket price is so even a $20 concert is going to cost me $60 just to get there.

The cost of most shows it nuts in general, not just JB.

Why would anyone want to pay $100+ to sit in an uncomfortable chair, in a venue with crap sound quality, and drink watered down over priced beer?

I enjoy club shows, but I don't even bother with large venues.

Someone at TGP just gave me a reach-around today, as stated before i was bant for trivial shite, wasn't even able to view their webpage for a year & a half til this AM, for some reason i could today, so i was looking around, not much has changed, then it asked me to log-in, so i did.......at which time they perma-bant me again??? Mmmm, great way to make friends. :loco: :banhim:

Thanks for shedding some light and now I understand. Props to you for hustling. I admire people like you.

I'll agree that concert tickets are overpriced in general.

Most shows I go to are smaller venues around $25, but I'll pay to see the big guns like Rush or Priest. I consider it all part of my entertainment monies.

Such a collection of big mouthed idiots over there. There's so many people calling him mediocre and not that great etc. Let's see those jerks put their playing where their mouth is.

Is it because Joe doesn't play a Dumble?

Secondly, charveldan, how the f*ck can you get banned from even "viewing" a website - that's public domain, they can't track your IP address and not let you "look" at the front of their site. Unless you're on a static IP, which nobody really is nowadays, how the HELL can they stop you from viewing a page???

Behooved.

I dunno? I haven't been allow to view for almost 2 years, they have even gone so far as to bant a post that someone made [about TGP] on another forum, that is the OP was making reference to a TGP post and Peterson or someone blocked the window.

The werd "Control Freak" comes to mind.

You would think they might want to learn from a pro like Joe. Oh I forgot a good chunk of tgp members already think they know everything. Hell there is so much I don't know.....I am here to learn what I can from whoever. I have had too many arguments over there see exactly how someone like joe must feel. He certainly doesn't need that bs

Kids over there sure are bad-asses with a keyboard in their hand. Most of them probably need a good oilfield ass-kicking....

Quite a few (imo) gear forums are slowly devolving to the quality of the average youtube comment to varying degree's, basically typing out brain farts on demand.

What's frightening is that they're not kids at all. They're older men with NOTHING to do but spew negativity.

Have there been threads in particular talking down JB or is it something ongoing ?

I woke up to find this on my facebook page from Joe Bonamassa today:

"Honesty the people on the Gear Page need to chill out on slagging me. I am tired of people taking cheap shots. It especially seems to come from that blog. Here is my advice.. put a band together.. Tour and walk a mile in my shoes.. Oh thats right.. you cant because you just talk and not do really much of anything positive. I don't mean to put down all the folks there just the morons who take cheap shots."
LINK?

I don't have to be a pro level musician nor tour for years to have an opinion about someone's music. That kind of decision is made every week when sales figures get released. I can't front on anyone's level of skill, talent, or work ethic. Saying "your music sucks" is entirely different than saying "you suck". It happens all the time, a great player changes their scene and it just doesn't cut it. As a music listener and consumer I have the right to not like a product.
